I agree with Wole Soyinka not becuz I think homosegxwality is right or wrong but becuz we pay these govt official to deal with public affairs and spending time or money on creating an enforcing a law like this is pointless. What this law means is that gay people cant get married in Nigeria which is bollocks  cuz they can still get married in other countries, although it wont be recognised legally here. That being said the act of homosegxwality itself hasnt been made illegal so as far as I am concerned this is nothing but smokescreen that makes the lawmakers appear to be more active than they really are. When they start targeting important PUBLIC AFFAIRS issue that will enrich the lives of Nigerians, they can have my respect.

This is the reason Nigeria is so so far backward, bc we dont like the truth and just want our own selfish ways like ANIMALS.  I am not gay and have a great life here in the U.S.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has asked lawmakers in the National Assembly to go back to school in order to clearly understand the difference between public and private affairs.

Professor Soyinka made this statement in response to a bill banning same-sex marriages which was recently passed by the Nigerian Senate.

He said, “The problem with legislators is that they fail to distinguish between personal bills and interventions in private lives.(@prof.wole soyinka,what is your definition for personal bills and interventions in private lives??) That is the problem.(There is not one electron of problem there) I see no reason why they should intervene in the private lives of adults.(You see no reason why they should intervene in the private lives of adults??How hilarious!.i also do not see any reason why people shouldn't commit fraud,sell drugs,child trafficking,etc.its their lives too you know ) What people do in their bedrooms is no business of mine.(Yes, its no business of mine either even if people wants to engage in fraud,criminal activities,drugs etc.they are entitled to it and should be left to practice such right??). It should not be the business of legislators.(drug trafficking,prostitutions etc are also, not the business of the lawmakers.let people who want to practice such acts be left to do so,it's their private lives as well)

“But at the same time, I think other countries who are pointing fingers should look inwards and see whether they also do not practise the same kind of discrimination.(do you have the guts and effrontery to confront the west with such question??....)  That is where I disagree,(you disagree?that's somehow ironic, i thought you were in favour of letting these people be??) but I think it is important we learn to distinguish between what is a public affair and what is a private affair.(i also think it's important we learn how not to trample and contradict the terms and laws of nature all in the end to prove what??civilization??liberty??democracy??equality??)

same sex marriage act is something that concerns the Nigerian govt and you sure the hell do not expect them to give a cold shoulder to the issue simply because Nigeria has other ills like epileptic electricity,stagnant economy,bribery and corruption etc to attend to...same sex marriage is one of the many issues affecting any nation of the world so why ignore it Mr professor??
