1. Give thanks to God: The first thing is to thank God for the year in review because no matter how bad it might have been this year, there is something worth thanking God for. My Bishop (Oyedepo) said “When you thank God for His finger, you will see His hands”. That means, if you want to see greater things next, you must thank God for the little ones you seen. Even being alive today is enough to thank God.
2. Review the year: Look back to the beginning of the year and review your plans as at January and see which of the plans you were able to execute or accomplish and the ones you could not. Scan out the reasons why you could not accomplish those plans, at the same time know your strong points that makes you to achieve what you have achieved.
3. Plan for the year ahead: After you have looked back to see why you were able to accomplished some plans and why you were not able to accomplish some other plans (i.e. your strong and weak points), the next thing is to plan towards the year ahead, correct the mistakes you made that might have denied you of some achievements, plan to do those things you supposed to do that you did not do, then map out the things you want to achieve in the coming year.
At the beginning of this year, I planned to do lot of things, today, I have achieved less than I expected simply because I didn’t do some of the things I supposed to do in order to achieve those things I did not achieve, my biggest plan was not achieved because of a little thing I would have put in place in order to get it done. So, be mindful of little things because they can deny you of great things.
4. Fight those deadly habits: There are surely some deadly habits we need to fight, habits (for the guys) such as spending so much time hanging out in the beer parlour drinking with money that would have taken care of some little but pressing issues, using the little money in your pocket chasing girls of different kinds while you have your own women/GF out there, we must avoid these habits among other in order to make next year better than this year. And for the ladies, habits such as: jumping from one bed to another, spending so much time going to night clubs and chasing married men (sugar daddies), especially the students, forfeiting the time to attend lectures and reading chasing money that will eventually destroyed your future. I have always tells the ladies and young girls that; whoever indulges herself in going out with married men, will surely get the same thing in return when she is married “Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”. Therefore, any lady who wishes to get married next year must distant herself from such habits. In general, whoever wishes a better next year must also better his/her efforts this year. May God help us all.
