In 2008, the US Intelligent predicted that some countries in the African continent would split along religious, ethnic and political
lines before 2015. Some of these countries included Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and off course "our dear" Nigeria. This "prophesy of doom" as Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo chose to call it, have manifested in Sudan. The reality in Somalia offers substantial evidence that secession is nearer than ever.
The rising ethnic and political conflicts as well as religious violence in Nigeria with a national (and according to US investigations; internationally networked) terrorist group, Boko Haram, in the fore front of the war against democracy, westernization, and humanity which has eaten hundreds of lives in past years, and the high dissatisfaction amongst the southerners, voices secession as the only visible solution. Many African and western political analysts see secession as the only way out from Nigeria`s bloodshed and a new beginning for Nigerians and democracy in the two "Nigerian countries"
Is breaking up along northern and southern lines not the best option for Nigeria?
If not, what would be a better option?
