An eye witness, Ibrahim Musa told Daily Trust today that a group of youths were on the highway in Lambata town, which is about 90 kilometers way from Minna, the state capital for a peaceful protest rally, when the police opened fire on them.
He added that Yahaya Adamu Ciroma, and Rabi’u Abubakar both 26 years old were shot by the police and eventually the two of them died before reaching a hospital for medical intervention.
A 24-hours curfew was imposed on Wednesday in all the 25 Local Government Areas of the state, but one of the protesters said they were not aware that curfew was imposed in the state because it was not given adequate publicity and that was the reason they were on the street.
Adamu Ciroma the father of one of the deceased, Yahaya Adamu Ciroma said his son was not even part of the protesting youth, adding he was an onlooker by the roadside but when the police arrived at the scene of the protest he became the first target and they shot him in the stomach.
He added that his late son died on their way to hospital in Wuse, Abuja. “You know all know hospitals in the state are on strike. We therefore had to rush to Wuse but unfortunately the boy died before reaching hospital”.
As in the case of Late Ciroma, the second deceased was also said to have been shot in his stomach too and passed on while on the way to same hospital.
