The police in Enugu have arrested and detained a traditional ruler from Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State over the recent murder of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in the area by gunmen.
The traditional ruler (names withheld) was reported to have gone to the state police headquarters to bail other suspects detained in the Criminal Investigations Department when he was held.
When contacted on the issue, the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu said investigation was in top gear to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of the DPO.
He confirmed that arrests had been made but declined to come out open on the detained royal father, insisting that he had not been properly briefed.
The late Okey Ofoedu, a Superintendent of Police, divisional police officer in charge of Oji River Police Division, Enugu was killed by unknown persons at Ojinator along Awka/Oji River Old Road by Roi Filling Station at about 6:30 pm on April 28, 2012 while he was returning from an engagement.
The state Commissioner of Police, Musa A.Daura had vowed that his command in partnership with other relevant security agencies as well as relevant stakeholders would do everything possible to get his assailants.
