every woman needs to know how to cook for her children's sake. its negotiable. women must know that its thier own benefit because they feel the hunger like men too.

Dear, if u dnt give ur hubby special delicay, some other girls will. its very very important cos if u cook well, ur hubby will be rushing home all the time cos of ur food, no woman will charm him cos he can get better meals at home.

why would my brother ( who can make only indomie and fried egg) marry a woman that can't cook. You probably thinking, yeah thats what i thought. My question would be 'Did you not know that she is unable to cook before you married her?' ... men don't just wake up one morning and realise, omg, my wife can't cook, I'll starve to death. Only a stupid man will find himself in that situation... cos if you know u're getting married to someone who can't cook, u make plans, shes starts to learn, you buy a cookbook, get a cook,things are not going to change all of a sudden.

Food is very important, no food= starvation=death. My problem your question and a lot of the replies on here is that, you all giving the impression that a woman that can't cook is of lesser value than a woman that can cook... which i think is wrong. Being able to cook is a plus, that I can cook doesn't make me of better than a woman who can't cook. Being unable to cook doesn't make any one less a woman.

What you're saying is equivalent to saying...all women should marry rich men because men that are poor or unemployed can't provide and care for them. They will probably be poor for the rest of their lifes. Men are supposed to be the provider and money is very important, without money you can't even buy food, care for your kid... So ladies next time a man walks up to you, first thing you ask is ...what do you do and how much do you have in the bank? ...

I did not know how to cook when I got married.  My husband taught me how to cook.  I am now one of the best cooks around.  My son has a girlfriend and I help her by teaching her how to cook the foods my son likes.  She brings her own skills and my son brings his own skills to.  Both of them are in the kitchen cooking for the whole family when they want and can.  My daughter cooks for all of us too when she wants and when she can and her boyfriend participates in eating.  Her boyfriend's mother teaches my daughter how to cook the food her sons likes.  None of these arrangements were planned, it just have turned out to work out that way for us.

I think both husband and wife should know how to cook.  Children may eventually be born, and they are both responsible for the children.  My husband taught me how to cook for the children.  He taught me many healthy ways to feed the children economically.

Love conquers all obstacles.  The girl that does not know how to cook can learn with love.  I have a friend of mine that just married a girl from China.  He is from Nigeria and he is teaching her how to make different Nigerian soups.  She is teaching him how to make Chinese food.

Marriage is a partnership.  You have a life partner that can turn your weaknesses into strength.  Do not become so rigid by making it a prerequisite.  If you are the man and you know how to cook, then teach her.

Many have also suggested that you pay for cooking classes for the prospective wife if you do not know how to cook.  The threat of sending the girl back because she does not know how to cook is quite superficial in my book.
