I think it's crazy abandoning one's language! as for me, i still write n speak igbo fluently, n ill pass it to my children when d time comes, no matter where i ill breeds them up, 'cos am proud of my language! how do u expect your childrens to intaract n flow with the ones in ur village? even if u don't base in nigeria, definitely one day u ill take them there, n u expect them to communicate in english with there grandpa n granma? teach ur childrens d native language, n help revive our traditions (languages)  Wink

basically i think nigerians who indulge their wards in foreign languages are simply empty and because there is this complex and void they try to fill, they now show off kids speaking these languages as if they (kids) are prized commodities.

It is worrisome a trend and this is basically because we are suffering from cultural neocolonization. Sad enough people have created a link between academic success and foreign language

no matter our language should nbe speaking very well if not it will lead to destruction of our land have u ever seen a spainsh who does know how to sepak his/her language or china who can't speak and this people are doing well. let us learn how to speak our language. ok and we should find a way of eradicating the issues of not speaking our language in this country

the nigerian parents cannot teach their children their native language because almost every thing in the economy is circulating and conducted in the foreign langage which we adopted from our white sovereings.

It's a sign of people mentally enslaved. It amounts to be ashamed of their origin.
