Have producers really not learnt their lessons after the Mercy Johnson debacle?

When allegations were raised against Mercy Johnson a few months ago, producers were quick to propose banning her only to make a u-turn after huge backlash from fans.

Now, Majid Michel is reported to have allegedly claimed that the Ghana movie industry is nonexistent:

“There is no Ghollywood. It’s only Nollywood.”

The comment is said to have infuriated some producers who have requested that he withdraws the statement or face a lengthy ban.

Seriously? Doesn’t he have the right to make a statement based on his assessment of the industry assuming he actually made the statement? Is the threat of banning actors wantonly the way forward in developing an industry? The likes of Majid, John Dumelo, Yvonne Nelson and co are the future leaders of the industry, so why should producers be playing chess with their careers?
What do you think?
