Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who was sacked as president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), by a Plateau court yesterday, has been picked up by the Department of State Service (DSS) operatives.
Maigari, who led the Super Eagles team back to Nigeria from the World Cup in Brazil, was arrested in the early hours of Friday, by officers who were waiting for his return at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to sources in the delegation that travelled with the sacked NFF boss, Maigari and some other key board members were on the phone trying to salvage their positions, after news of the court ruling reached them. “We looked seriously worried and were making phone calls when we had a stop over in London,” one of them said.
“Both Maigari and Barrister Chris Green were trying to get the true picture of what is happening at home.”
As at the time of this report, Maigari’s whereabouts could not be ascertained.
