Nigerians across Europe are to watch the 2015 general elections live on television courtesy of partnership between two media organisations.
Regional Director (Africa) of UK-based Ben TV, the first ethnic minority satellite channel in Europe, Mr. Lanre Ijaola, disclosed this during a media parley in Lagos yesterday.
He said the project, which was in conjunction with Naija Live Media, would give comprehensive coverage of the elections to Nigerians abroad.
“Although the Nigeria Diaspora Residents do not at the moment have the right to vote, we strongly believe they are very influential in determining the votes of their family members back home. We pray that in the nearest future, the hope of the Nigerians in the Diaspora to vote will come to pass by legislation in Nigeria.
“Nigeria huge Diaspora population can be a potent force for Nigeria Transformation. Our live transmission in Nigeria and worldwide is powered by Naijalive, Naijalive is the Nigeria’s leading independent specialist in providing high Definition Satellite Broadcast facilities and various media technologies, hence the partnership with Ben TV UK,” he declared.
Ijaola advised the National Assembly to come up with a legislation that would give Nigerians in the Diaspora the right to vote.
In his remarks, Mr. Kayode Falade of Naijalive, said his organization had procured two Outside Broadcast (OB) vans for the coverage of the 2015 polls.
The vehicles, he said, were fitted with the state-of-the-art facilities to provide the best of the 2015 polls to Nigerians abroad.
