It's not sensible to think of it and as well carry out the act, but if the parties invole give consent to it, who am I to tell them that it's wrong?

From experience, if i have to live my life again, i would confirm a man/woman fertility before marry...after 9 years of marriage without kids, i would say no harm in confirming. i got married as a virgin...because i strongly believed in my biblical principals, marriage bed must not be defiled....found out after marriage the guy had problems...confirmed, but he said women still get pregnant like that, so he is invariably blaming me, who am i to speak, i have never been pregnant before...he claims his former girl friends do get pregnant for him before he gave his life to christ...i am so misery everyday and i wish i could just die...dont pray for my enemy to go thru this, this world is wicked.

I never heard of that before...what i know is, there are some men (nigerians) that i know
who wouldn't marry a woman who can not give them children...or they could marry but have more then 1 woman...

Nigerian society/families put pressures on ladies to get pregnant before wedlock, supposedly to avert a childless marriage.
Is it sensible for ladies to bow to those pressures
Undecided

@ Poster, this is a really good topic to deliberate on. In the eastern part of Nigeria, presicely among the Ibos, u'll see even parents supporting it. Its so bad. Ok, what if the woman gets pregnant & u marry her then she loses the pregnancy & doesn't get pregnant again? People should stop trying to act as if they are God who gives children. Some couples have stayed together for up to 14years before havig their first child. Marriage should be out of love for each other & desire to always support each other & not just for procreation. Besides, there are many means of getting children now........theres adoption, artificial insemination, ovulation boost, etc.........just that they may be expensive. But i still maintain that temporary absence of children should not kill love

Your story is a very sad one and i really do feel for you. I don't even know what advice to give
because it's not something 1've experienced or pray to experience when the time comes.
Our GOOD LORD IS ABLE.  Thanks for sharing your story.

I completely agree with you. It's a common practice among my dad's tribe (yorubas) too.
A marriage should be about understanding, sacrifice and mutual love which must be unconditional
with or without children. For crying out loud...... billions of orphans around the world crying to be loved and are
in need of a shelter.  I wonder why childless Nigerian couples can't make use of the alternatives....there's
 need for mental upgrade.

Sounds strange. Is like u want to eat the cake bfore buying it. And after  eating u only want to pay the prize for it, if the taste was sweet. lol

Ladies, don t allow this to be happen to u. U r not a milk cow. First of all ur man should want to marry u cause of his true love for u. impregnating u bfore the marriage would not show much love nor respect for u from him.

I knw of a man dt told a lady 2 get pregnant before they get married but the lady refused, the man met another lady that got pregnant b4 d wedding. D end of the story is that few months after child birth the baby died. I think dis is d last thing a lady shld do just 2 get "married". In fact, it is not an option.
