West Ham propelled themselves into the Champions League race with an impressive 3-0 victory at Liverpool last season, but head to Anfield just over 12 months on fearing relegation
They suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat to Arsenal at the London Stadium last time out, and narrowly avoided dropping into the bottom three thanks only to Middlesbrough’s victory over Hull City on Monday night.
The silver lining, however lightly brushed, from the defeat to Arsenal was the return of Andy Carroll, with the striker scoring what a mere consolation on an otherwise forgettable night for the Hammers.
Bilic has received a vote of confidence from the West Ham hierarchy this week, and will hope that his side can take inspiration from Liverpool’s surprise capitulation to Bournemouth.

Midfielder Adam Lallana is pushing for a start having made his comeback from a groin problem as a substitute on Sunday.
Striker Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of the next two matches as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.
