An unidentified robbery suspect this morning at Oke Afa bus stop, along the ever-busy Isolo-Egbe road in Lagos, met his waterloo after a mob dragged him out of the canal where he had jumped into while trying to escape. He was beaten up before being set ablaze with a disused tyre thrown round his neck.
According to eyewitnesses account, two robbery suspects on a motorcycle snatched the handbag of a lady on the Oke Afa bridge and the bike sped off. But an angry mob gave them a hot chase.
One of the culprits escaped with the bag, which the victim claimed contained a Bible and N4,000 cash.
The other suspect was not so lucky as the mob chased him. He jumped into the canal but three young men reportedly jumped into the canal, dragged him out and set him ablaze.
While the fire was on, there was a heavy traffic on both sides of the Isolo-Ikotun-Egbe road when P.M.NEWS got to the scene.
Policemen and officials of the Lagos State Traffic management Authority (LASTMA) were at the scene, but they could not clear the heavy traffic.
Another drama was introduced to the gory scene when an unidentified ‘friend’ of the suspect attempted to remove a ring on the burning man’s finger.
He was promptly arrested and marched to the police station.
As at press time, the fire was still burning and the traffic was still heavy.

The case of bag sntching is fastly growing in nigeria. In some state, this has resuled to the abolishment of motor cycle transport. This is as serious as the armed Robbery. Here in malaysia, an indonesian was sentenced to death by a lady magistrate for snatching a jewelry from the neck of a lady.. You see there was public outcry on this, but when the magistrate was interviewed, She explained that, bag snatching or article snatching is as harmful as the armed robbery. She now gave instances of victims who died in an effort of the snatcher to snatch things from them. The most recent was the death of a husband and wife who died in an accident, when a set of robbers tried to snatch a bag from the wife and the draging caused the victims to hit an incoming lorry hich led to their death. So, am vigilantee can be appointed to monitor the activities of these gang of snatchers and forcefully bring it to an end.

Yes, very correct, d thief got what he deserves...dat would serve as deterrant to othes like him. But, is it right to take a human life? What about beatin severely and hand him over to d police n let d law take its course... Dat would hav helped in d arrest of other thieves like him. Who knows whether some other thieves took part in d burnin... As it is now, everybody dat tooj part in d burnin is also guilty of a crime in d sight of God. lets think about it for a minute.

Just like the statement goes ''He met his waterloo'' that means ....He was unfortunate, many do this and get away with it. Now he will serve as an escape goat to others, especially his friend who escaped.
