Please this is not the right place to discuss such issues
other non-Nigerians will think otherwise about us
PLEASE STOP!!

I live in London n honestly Nigerian men are the most humble guyz I've ever met. Most of them r very religious and have respect to others. If is old women n men they address them as daddy n mummy. I admire the way u guyz r brought up. Am a one happy gal married to a devoted christian Igbo man for many yrs.  No matter how pple talk bad abt u guyz, I don't listen.

I have noticed, after living in the states for almost 11 years, that many Nigerians that travel over here and even in Europe, tend to do away with the culture and discipline they have learned from back home.Especially in the U.S. where "un-cultured" men sag their pants and pierce their ears!! then when Nigerians arrive on U.S soil, they too begin to sag their pants e.t.c Please can someone tell me why a well cultured individual from a back home would adapt to these barbaric acts?whats in it for them? This is not only limited to men, females also loose their home training and respect for themselves...

So what of those that were brought up in the states and never really knew the Nigerian culture? what do you expect them to do besides what they've known and grew up around? and besides sagging of the pant is an individual thing and not "American" as you think. Not everyone resides in a Nigerian community or near Nigerians to keep up or even learn the culture so you can't expect them to be some how or someone they've never known. Thanks 2 Niajapals am catching up really good. Grin Grin

I agree with you. Nigerians aboard tend to copycat wayy too much and it gets annoying watching that.  I believe they try to copy westerners because they do not want to stand out especially being from the  so called "backwards, barbaric continent" as some westerners call Africa.  This is a pattern i noticed in all Africans residing aboard, notjust nigerians.  The annoying thing about it is it makes some of them look ridiculuous.  I've actually seen nigerians, and other africans deny being African, not just their country but Africa entirely.  it's disgusting and don't get me started on the language barrier. Most nigerian parents aboard will teach their children English but not their native tongue.  my mother once asked some parents especially mothers why they do that; according to them "they do not want their children to have an accent" ironically enough, the kids always do.
But you have to admit this is a pattern that seen among foreigners living aboard. From Asians, to Middle Easterners, to Indians, to Africans to Latinos, and so on and so forth.  Though they still hold the culture, most destroy their identity once they arrive here.

As for nigerians living in Nigeria imitating such act.
Girl, i do not even know what is wrong with those group.  I find it ridiculous.

i on the other hand am proud to b married to a nigerian,
while i am an aussie.
