CAMEROON
Cameroon started the defence of their Africa Cup of Nations title with a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau in their opening match in Group F.
After Ghana drew their opening fixture, Cameroon gained a two-point lead over the team who are expected to be their closest rivals in the group, so a draw in this match would keep Cameroon in pole position,
GHANA
Ghana were left with mixed feelings after their 2-2 draw in a topsy-turvy opening match against Benin in which they had recovered from conceding an early goal to take the lead before being reduced to 10 men and conceding an equalising goal.
The Ayew brothers Andre and Jordan were both on target as Ghana battled back from conceding a second minute goal, but the somewhat harsh sending-off of John Boye less than ten minutes into the second-half proved pivotal as Benin took advantage, and they nearly went on to take the three points.
Ghana will be forced to make a change with John Boye's suspension and it appears that Jonathan Mensah will be the replacement. There is also a question mark over Thomas Agyepong who left the field through injury in the first half against Benin.
THE PREDICTION
This fixture between the two teams expected to progress from Group F takes on more importance as Ghana's opening draw with Benin means that a defeat here would leave their fate out of their own hands. Ghana will be extremely frustrated with the second yellow card that saw John Boye dismissed for time wasting as they were 2-1 ahead at the time and looking set for victory. Cameroon did enough to win their match against Guinea-Bissau but it was an easy opening fixture and they will be tested a lot more in this encounter, especially in defence where Ghana have the firepower to convert the chances that Guinea-Bissau could not and claim the win.
