No fewer than six persons lost their lives while 24 others sustained varying degrees of injury as a result of multiple road crashes on the Bauchi-Jos Road in Bauchi State within a four-day period.

“The accident was caused by loss of control. The tyre of the Golf pulled out on motion and the driver lost control and the vehicle had a head-on collision with the Gombe Line bus. As a result, five people were killed and 19 sustained varying degrees of injury.”

According to him, the victims were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for treatment.

The FRSC spokesman said the last accident was a lone crash that occurred on December 2 around 9.00 a.m. at Tashan Maikudi, along the Bauchi-Nabardo Road.

According to him, the accident involved two persons, a male and a female in a Golf 3 wagon with number plate BUU 856 TQ, driven by one Mustapha Dan Yau.

Suleiman told our correspondent that the crash, which was due to speed limit violation, occurred when the vehicle suffered a tyre blowout and veered off the road into the bush, causing it to somersault several times.

He said that the two occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical attention.
