A yet-to-be-identified member of the union was said to have sustained injuries during the clash.

Naijapals had reported that two NURTW members were recently killed during in the area during a clash over the leadership of a park. For peace to reign, it was learnt that the Chairmen, Coker-Aguda and Itire-Ikate Local Government Area, shut down the park.

On Sunday, around 10pm, NURTW members from Aguda were said to have invaded Ijesha and attacked their rivals in the area. During the fracas, a man was allegedly stabbed and the extent of the injuries made people to mistakenly conclude that he had died.

A source in the area said the men were drinking at a pub when they were attacked, adding that the injured victim was abandoned by a canal close to the scene of the clash.

“They were at a pub on Sanusi Street when the attackers, who called themselves Salary boys, invaded the Ijesha area and attacked them. The attackers knew that those men usually hang out there; after the attack, the victim was abandoned by a canal and people thought he had died, but he didn’t,”
the source said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bala Elkana, said,
Quote
“The clash happened at Ijesha. There has been a problem between members of the NURTW in Ijesha and Aguda, and the local government chairman shut down the park and there has not been an issue around there since then.

“But on Sunday, an Aguda boy entered the Ijesha area and a fight ensued between him and one other person and he was attacked and was injured. People thought he was dead, but he survived the attack and has been receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, invited the chairmen of the factions today (Monday) and other stakeholders were also invited for a meeting and resolutions were reached. All the unions affected equally undertake to maintain peace.”

In another development, there was a protest at the Creek Heaven Estate Ikota, in the Ajah area of the state on Monday.

The residents were said to have protested their inability to benefit from their land.
