
A yet-to-be-identified member of the union was said to have sustained injuries during the clash.
Naijapals had reported that two NURTW members were recently killed during in the area during a clash over the leadership of a park. For peace to reign, it was learnt that the Chairmen, Coker-Aguda and Itire-Ikate Local Government Area, shut down the park.
On Sunday, around 10pm, NURTW members from Aguda were said to have invaded Ijesha and attacked their rivals in the area. During the fracas, a man was allegedly stabbed and the extent of the injuries made people to mistakenly conclude that he had died.
A source in the area said the men were drinking at a pub when they were attacked, adding that the injured victim was abandoned by a canal close to the scene of the clash.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bala Elkana, said,
“The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, invited the chairmen of the factions today (Monday) and other stakeholders were also invited for a meeting and resolutions were reached. All the unions affected equally undertake to maintain peace.”
In another development, there was a protest at the Creek Heaven Estate Ikota, in the Ajah area of the state on Monday.
The residents were said to have protested their inability to benefit from their land.
