The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has awarded up to N50 million in liability against Elisha Abbo. Peoples Gazette learnt on Monday.
In Suit No. FHC: CV/2393/19 – Osimibibra Warmate v Senator Elisha Abbo, the court awarded 50million in favour of the lady that was brutally assaulted.
The court said Mr. Abbo should pay N50 million to Osimibibra Warmate, the woman he assaulted on camera in March 2019.
Recall that a magistrate Court in Zuba, Abuja, had dismissed the assault case filed by the Nigerian Police against the Senator for lack of diligent prosecution by the police. This is despite a viral video showing Mr. Abbo assaulting a woman, Osimibibra Warmate; and a televised press conference in which the lawmaker apologized to the victim.
The magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, who upheld a no-case submission filed by Mr Abbo, said the police failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the lawmaker assaulted Ms. Warmate on May 11, 2019.
