Dan_Fulani at 23-12-2010 01:42 PM (14 years ago) (m) You will NOT get the answer you are seeking because the question does not make sense. First, understand the nigerian society. It is not a homogeneous society. There are different groups, languages, classes, regions, age groups, etc. Each of these groups like different types of music. Teenagers listen to different music, as do the 30s to 40s age group. The older folks love the type of music they grew up with. You listen to music, so you should know that music is always evolving.
Also consider that nigerian music come in a variety of forms, and in very many languages, styles and genri. Nigerians tend to be loyal to musicians they like.
Lastly, I doubt if anyone kept accurate statistics of number of albums or cds that were sold. Ask the music producing companies. They will NOT tell you because they have been robbing the artists /musicians of their fair share or payments based on record sold.
There you have it. You are more likely to get a better answer if you ask a specific question. Narrow your search to a spcific group or type of music. For example ...What records / songs sre popular with the teens and twenty groups? OR with the university students.? You may get some answers.
