Addressing political stakeholders, including the gubernatorial aspirants, on Wednesday, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ilorin, the state capital, the police commissioner noted that the state was one of the most peaceful states in the country.
He added that to curb any ugly incidents during and after parties primaries and the election in 2011, the gubernatorial aspirants needed to sign undertaking as a way of monitoring them and their supporters.
He said that the command was fully ready to face challenges of the 2011 general election and assured all political parties in state of adequate security.
He also urged them to maintain law and order during their primaries, stressing that the command and other security agencies in the state would not take it lightly with whoever foment trouble during and after elections.
Ghana said that with adequate security already put in place ahead of the general election, he was very sure that the state would record free and fair elections in 2011.
Also speaking, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Chief Timothy Ibitoye, said that the body was ready to conduct free and fair general election in 2011.
He disclosed further that relevant staff had been trained ahead of the elections, assuring all political parties in the state of a level playing ground.
