The Lagos State Police Command has disclosed why its officers searched the residence of Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeats pioneer, Fela Kuti. On Tuesday, some police officers stormed the house of afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos for a search. An eyewitness told Punch in an interview that the police officers took along the phone of Seun Kuti’s wife after the search.

“The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs. They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti”, the eyewitness said.

Disclosing why the house of Seun Kuti was raided, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the command obtained a warrant to search Seun Kuti’s residence. He disclosed that it was also part of the process for their ongoing investigations.

“It’s part of our ongoing investigations. We were investigating assault, we stumbled on some things we needed to verify. We got a duly issued search warrant, which we executed,” Hundeyin told Punch.
