Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has thrown his weight behind the planned relocation of the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and some departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos.

Uzodinma is the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) and the chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum.

The move by the Federal Government to relocate FAAN headquarters and some units of the apex bank to the commercial hub of the nation had triggered controversies.

While a cross-section of Nigerians backed the relocation, others, particularly some Northern groups and elites, have kicked against the move.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Sunday, Governor Uzodinma said the decision for the relocation has some economic benefits.

Uzodinma said moving the operations department of FAAN to Lagos to supervise airlines makes economic sense, and there is absolutely nothing bad with the move.

He said: “I listened to Ali Ndume, I listened to the Northern Senators’ Forum, I listened to the Emir of Kano. You can see the preponderance of opinions.

“And then the majority opinion is that merit should be the driving criterion for decision-making in the country.

“The main aviation hub is in Lagos and if the operation’s department is sent to Lagos to be able to manage aviation operations effectively, I have not seen any ill in it.“

Ali Ndume and the Northern supremacist.
So, they could now cry that some Federal dept are being relocated to Lagos?
I thought they would have cried when everything Federal in Lagos was being moved to Abuja. All in the name of relocating the capital to a central part of Nigeria,  which is in Hausa region.
Definitely,  it's not the centralisation that was the reason for the relocation. But they wanted everything to be in the Northern region of Nigeria.
Let them be informed,  Nigeria belongs to every tribes. Not the Hausas alone.
Why can't the NNPC headquarters be relocated to Ogoni land.
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock can be placed in the North. Imagine you doing something at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.  They'll tell you to wait for approval from Abuja. What an arrant nonsense!!!
They're accusing the government of trying to under develop the North with the relocation to Lagos.
Let's ask them "What development has the relocation to Abuja brought to them?
Almajiri Kingdom. If they're not happy with the relocation.  Then, they could wait until it starts to rain. They go and hug a transformer close to them.

It is sad that such monumental and vital policy initiative has been de-based to arguments fuelling North-South divide, electoral support threats etc. This nation can't and won't move forward unless and until we stop these chasms.
