Salisu Ahmed, a 66-year-old Nigerian man, has shared his remarkable story of living with HIV for 31 years before being cured through a stem cell transplant.
According to him, he contracted the virus after an extramarital affair and faced severe stigma, including losing his job and being abandoned by his family.
He, however, disclosed this in a recent interview with BBNaija reality star, Doyin David.
The groundbreaking procedure, performed at the City of Hope Medical Center in the U.S., involved a stem cell donor with a rare genetic mutation.
Ahmed became the fourth person in the world to achieve long-term HIV remission.
