Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian senator, has criticized the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for his recent remarks encouraging his daughters to retaliate if their husbands slap them.
Sanusi reportedly advised his daughters to slap back if they were ever struck by their husbands, emphasizing self-defense.
Shehu Sani responded by condemning the message, stating that such advice could inadvertently promote domestic violence instead of resolving it.
According to Sani, violence in relationships should not be encouraged or normalized in any form. Instead, he urged for peaceful and lawful conflict resolution strategies that foster understanding and discourage abuse.
