There has been this confusion as to where to claim as your origin, it so happens that sometimes your parents are from a certain state and you were born in another state; in such case people are bent on you claiming the start where your parents come from.

Is this really right? shouldn't your origin be where you were born and grew up rather than where your parents were born???

What is your take on this issue?

origin is simply where u originated/came from, not where u were born.
As for me i was born in equatorial Guinea, raised in Nigeria, now in South africa.

CLOSE THIS CASE NOW. BECAUSE THE POSTER IS LOST WITH HIS  half BROTHER AJANI.

I guess you originated from where you were born and not where your parent's were born simply because history told us that your parent's parents also originated from somewhere and we all came from one man and one woman, so if we continue to trace back our origin then we will all end up in THE GARDEN OF EDEN. For me where i was born remain my origin and where i am presently remain my home!!!

State of origin is different from Place of Birth.
For Example
U can be born in lagos while your Father is from Abeokuta, Ogun State.
WITH THIS
Your Place of Birth is LAGOS
WHILE
Your State Of Origin is Ogun State
THEN
Your Home Town is Abeokuta. Simple as ABC.
So u have to claim your Father's State as your State of Origin not where you have been born.

I can never understand why Nigerians like to make everything so complicated. This is a simple English and understanding. Where you are from is where you were born simple. If you were born in Nigeria and your parents are from America, you will say that you are an American just because your parents are from there? Is that where your birth certificate will be found? .Where your hospital or backyard that you were born is where you are from. Your parents may or may not be from the same place. Damn! Roll Eyes

It is true of USA and Europe but in Nigeria nothing is as straight forward. Besides, some states discriminate against non-state indigenes on the basis of where your father was born and not where you were born. Call it black on black discrimination in Nigeria.
