You probably got all the advice you seek from folks here however, I'd like to put my 2cents. It wasn't exactly deceit considering that you didn't think to ask him when you first met but that's not to say that he shouldn't have told you all these while. That said, if you care about this guy and can also sense that he cares about you, why let little omission like that affect what could become a great relationship? Also, being a single dad of a 4 years old, I personally appreciate your man (if i can call him that) predicament considering the close-mindedness of us Nigerians. I know it's frowned upon in our culture for a single man or woman who has never been married to want to be with a partner who was divorced and has a child. That being the case Nigerians in diaspora are in a big predicament of finding a partner and as such we might chose to omit little information like....having a child or two and been married before.
