It is really not a matter of the western world not believing in prayer. I am in the western world and I pray! She could easily call on the name of Jesus while performing her job duties. As a medical professional, she should know that black doctors all over the world are looked down upon in emergency situations. There have been so many reports and documentaries showing how people of all races prefer white physicians in life or death emergencies. It does not mean that whites are better, it just shows that we still live in a world where racism and stereotypes exist. ReplyI guarantee you that even in Nigeria where people pray more often, if you brought your child to the hospital in this condition (not breathing and turning blue in color) you wouldn't want your nurse jumping around swinging their arms and praying. You would surely think that you have brought your child to a hospital with a mad woman who is pretending to be a nurse. I am a born again Christian and I personally want a man or woman of faith in Christ as my medical doctor or nurse. However, when you are in emergency situation you do not want to see how well he or she prays, you want to see them do what they were trained to do. Which in this case is to work diligently to save your child's life. Believe me even atheist pray when they are faced with life of death situations. So, the child already had his personal prayer team. He didn't need another. He needed a competent nurse. She should have been fired. However, I feel sorry for her that she has also lost her license.

Quote from: shepherdnoble on 6-11-2011 09:06 PM Quote from: sugaDaddy1forU on 5-11-2011 06:39 PM A UK based Nigerian nurse Omolayo Abayomi has lost her nursing licence, the 51years old panicked and chose to pray for the emergency patient instead of treating the baby. According to DailyMail; GOD will get her a new good job. I enjoin her not to regret because the JESUS she called will not leave her nor forsake her.![]() "Omolayo Abayomi 'panicked' when the child, who suffered from a chronic lung disease, turned blue and stopped breathing in his cot at home. The 51-year-old called for divine intervention more than 20 times before the vulnerable boy's mother told her to 'shut up'. 'The nurse was constantly saying "Jesus help him" and waving her arms around" What a horrible situation. Do you think the nurse deserves what she got or did the baby's parents, the court and the Nursing body go too far?

@Chizze: you are very correct. The posters should get enough information before making it public. There is knowledge of God everywhere in the world but that should not prevent you from performing your professional duties. God doesn't have to hear your voice, He knows what you have in mind; therefore you can pray to him in your mind while doing what is necessary professionally. Don't be too spiritual to understand what has to be done in the physical. So, let's not judge based on this short and incomprehensible information. I have heard testimonies of Doctors and Nurses in the UK and the US saying they pray to God when they were confused over treatment and God helped them. But his one didn't make attempt to treat but instead wanted to pray. This is not ethical in the health service system everywhere in the world. Reply

it was chinua achebe who wrote in one of his books:when the white man came we had the land and they had the bible; but by the time they left,we had the bible and they had the land. Unfortunately because we are African - a contradiction of of the uncompleted success of the acculturation of a Yoruba, igbo, hausa e.t.c. people as oyinboman, we read and apply the bible downside-up. I really pity her, but she should have treated the patient before praying that is if the story was true cos the mother of the child could just be one of those that hate Jesus. So hearing a Nurse calling Jesus on her child is already a crime. A nurse with 51 yrs experience, I bet you she knows what to do first on a patient. To me that was just a frame up stories of those who hate Jesus Reply

This is Doing the right thing at the wrong time and at a wrong place. ReplyOnyibo no believe in God to talk about Jesus. They no believe say Jesus na the son God;they say Jesus is a white man like them and they look a like.Na them bring Christianity to Africa;but they see Christianity in a different way from us. The reason why they her sack is that they have concluded that she is incompetent on her Job.She should have prayed in her house and cover all her patient in her prayer before going to work that day,God will still do his work at his own time. Madam at 51yrs and a based UK nurse i believed that you are well trained expedience and qualified for the profession,if not you will not work there so if they have taken their license ,instead of staying Jobless at UK and paying exorbitant tax on everything, go back home and utilize your knowledge there, people need your help at home, don't waste all your resources there for them. That God you called will provide for you a better place to work in Niaja. You dont have to regret, cry or worry because Your heavenly Father has worried for you already.

Quote from: djedeep on 7-11-2011 12:07 AM I dont understand this , im also living in holland it would be a thesame situation that she is been fired she has been in europe for a long time She supposed to know that when it comes to health issues, western world doesnt see prayer als first medication. medication first before anything. prayer is the key, we all know but this situation medication first then praten for the medication to work but its Too bad she looses her nusing license like this. she lost her license cos they think she dosent know what she was doing and they know medical studies is not enclosed with what she did' well you are right...but i want you to know that, she is not a fool to the point that a baby will be sick and she will not attend to it. you should know that she has been in the job for so many years. media always turn stories around. probably what happen is that, after giving the patient a proper treatment and she found that the baby condition is scaring and she believes that prayer is another thing to back the baby's health up..and maybe while she is doing that. she was caught. i believe that is the case. Anything that happends to u good or bad just give thanks to GOD

We all believe in God but the madam phyuk up sha. British people does take their profession like religion, therefore barely believe the existence of God. Our own sef too much, it was british people that brought Christianity to Nigeria but na we turn am to daily business instead of point of worship and na we wicked for heart pass. ReplyLet her go and do care Job then, that is if they will accept her. Old people are like kids as well, and they need someone to clean their nyash properly.

I would say she suppose to be applying medication while praying. she should study Neh 4 : 17. beside she can be reward for being persecuted for righteousness sake not for murder. Reply
