121  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Saudi princess tries to sneak out of Paris hotel owing $7.7M on: 6-06-2012 12:16 PM
Saudi Princess, Maha Al-Abdullah, is one big spender. In 2009, she racked up a shopping bill of about $27M (N4,239,000,000) in Paris, which included about $60,000 (N9,420,000) just on high-end lingerie. The only problem with her big spending? She doesn't pay for any of it!

Last Christmas, Princess Maha checked into the 5-star Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. She requested for all 41 rooms for she and her entourage. After enjoying her stay in the hotel, dodging numerous requests by the hotel to pay for the time she'd already spent, and racking up a bill of $7.7M (N1,208,900,000), she decided to leave. She however did not pay her hotel bill.

Instead of quietly dipping out, she had her sixty servants carry her stacks of suitcases with her at 3:30am. Hotel staff called the police to intervene, but they couldn't because of Princess Maha's diplomatic immunity. She's since moved to another luxury 5-star hotel owned by her father's friend called The Royal Monceau close to the Champs-Elysees.

Police in Paris said they were unable to arrest or charge her because she was claiming diplomatic immunity. They said they would be asking the Saudi embassy to help settle her accounts.

LMAO! Too useless. Her father cut her off from his wealth because of her reckless spending when she ordered over $100,000 of glassware a while ago. They should at least make her wash plates in the Royal Monceau. What type of behavior is that?

123  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Did First Lady cause Dana airplane to crashed after blocking airspace for 2hrs? on: 5-06-2012 10:45 AM
"Is there any way of getting confirmation about news I'm just getting that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for  the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan."

Private jet owners who had to hover in the air same time leaked this. This was apparently the reason local news didn't report the crash for so long till CNN and foreign news stations started reporting it.

>>>CLICK HERE TO VIEW Photos of people that died in the Dana Air-plane Crashed<<<

Local news was 'blacked out' trying to kill the story of the airspace being closed while a distressed plane couldn't land.

It would be shocking if so. Though there was engine failure there was still time for the plane to have landed apparently.

You do know anyway that the airspace is closed for up to 2hours each time the Presidential Jet needs to go into the air? 2 hours for a 15minute take off or landing!

And this jet is used by President, VP, President's wife and if I recall David Mark. It's almost a daily occurrence I've been told by airline staff when it caught me out on a trip.

The truth remains that the President's wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant's child at the Oriental hotel. Lekki. Anyone living on the Lekki axis saw first hand the horrendous traffic caused by the president's wife's visit and confirmed reports from airport staff who volunteered information, collaborated this fact, that the Lagos airport was actually shut for 2 hours, about the same time the ill fated Dana Plane crashed.

This also strongly explains the reason why Aero contractor airplane could not depart Abuja for Lagos at 3:40pm because of the closure of the Lagos airport. This is bad and one can only imagine the deep sorrow ad-in-finitum (without limit) that the families of these unfortunate Nigerians and other nationals are currently plagued into.

Yes we have to and yes we can; beginning from our immediate homes and While we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, we need as a nation to thoroughly do some deep communities. with time this will snowball into our National consciousness. For how long are we going to sacrifice the lives of our dear brothers and sisters and by extension mortgage the future of their/our children, just for the comfort of our leaders? For a 15 minutes ritual of plane take-off, an airport was shut for 2 hours because our "DEAR FIRST LADY" was scheduled to return to Abuja. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!''

Nigerians need to know what happened? who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday june 3,2012?
124  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Top Ten Personal Ordeals That Every Woman Face In Life on: 5-06-2012 10:03 AM

1. Not spending enough time with your children

A startling majority of working moms feel like they haven’t struck the right balance between their work and children. If you’re at work worrying about the children, work isn’t getting the best out of you and the kids aren’t getting anything. You should give your full dedication depending on where you are, whether at work or with the kids. That way everyone, including yourself, benefits.

2. Not losing extra weight

More than 70 per cent women report being on a diet at any one given time, regardless of whether they are actually overweight or not. If you want to look gorgeous and slim, choose to change your situation and make time to go to the gym or a slimming group. Recognise it is your choice and no one else is to blame.

3. Spending money on yourself

Going on a shopping spree may be fun, but the after effects can send some into a spiral of self-loathing and guilt. However, if you rationalise your reasons for spending money on a spa break because you need the downtime, or a new business suit because it will help you in your work, then you have no reason to feel guilty.

4. Your partner is unhappy

If you do feel guilty that you’re not doing enough to make your partner happy, then it is suggested that you both sit down and look at your timetables and agree on how you can make more time for each other. Discuss it and come up with a change in your behaviours that will make you both happier as a couple.

5. Always being late

Sometimes, situations arise which will make us late, no matter how well prepared we are, prompting feelings of guilt and panic. Sitting on a train and getting aggravated about what you could be doing if you were there already is a waste of energy. Ask yourself how you can use the moment? You could write out a full shopping list, rehearse what you want to say in the meeting or call your mother. Sitting there winding yourself up hurts only yourself and no one else.

6. Not being able to play the perfect hostess

Many women say they would like to put on the perfect dinner party or a drinks bash but they often set themselves high standards that they then fail to meet. The desire for social excellence derives from our need to be perfect all the time. Go on, host your party and be a bad party hostess. The moment you accept you can do it, but do it badly, it takes the pressure off. We give ourselves a lot of ‘I should be the perfect dinner party host’. Everyone has a different perception of everything so you can try to host a dinner party but you have to do it your way.

7. Forgetting birthdays

It’s not deliberate. Some of us are running about for 18 hours a day and have a million things to do. If you do feel guilty then simply tell yourself you know you’re doing your best, apologise and make clear that it wasn’t something done deliberately. If the person chooses to take umbrage, then that’s up to them.

8. Taking out some me-time

Living up to the ‘superwoman’ image that many women wish to maintain, can lead to terrible feelings of guilt over giving themselves time off to get their hair done or read a book. But doing nothing is very important in allowing us to physically and mentally recharge. But it is very difficult for other people to see you doing nothing and allow yourself to do it. Tell people the truth. That you need a break because you are at your limit – then accept that the world is not going to fall apart without you.

9. Letting your parents down

Women can inherit guilty feelings through the generations of not doing enough for their elders and in some way failing their parents. Learn to accept that your parents will love and judge you no matter what. Obviously do try and be sensitive but if you go your own way and you are successful and happy, then if they are decent human beings, they’ll be happy for you in any way.

10. Saying ‘No’

Saying ‘no’ is hard because we don’t want to be seen as the baddie and because women are taught from a young age to put others first. The first thing to do is to give yourself time to think about each request and it is suggested that you say something noncommittal like, ‘That sounds interesting, give me half an hour and I’ll get back to you on it’.
If you really don’t want to do what they ask, then give the person other options to help solve their problem.
125  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Yoruba Girl, Opeyemi Sodipe becomes the youngest Nigerian girl to bags PhD at 25 on: 5-06-2012 09:34 AM
She's young and imbued with the spirit of excellence. 25-year-old Opeyemi Sodipe set a new record during the 10th convocation of the Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State on Sunday as she became the first graduate of Babcock to bag a PhD at 25.

Miss Sodipe bagged a PhD in Business Information. According to her growing up story, as she narrated, she had a bad academic start. She was a dullard until an incident changed this when she was in JSS3 at King’s International School in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“I cannot describe myself as an average student when I was in primary and junior secondary school. I was a dullard. But this changed when our literature teacher in JSS 3 gave us a test and I failed woefully. The infuriated teacher while distributing our scripts just threw my own at my face and abused me. She called me olodo (an academic non-performer) and I was greatly embarrassed in front of my classmates. I wept till I reached home,” she stated.

On getting home, she told her mother about the ‘insult’ unleashed on her by her teacher. But to her surprised, her mother too scolded her. However, her mum did what a responsible parent should do: “She later encouraged me to buckle up. She said my teacher’s action should be seen as a wake-up call. I took the advice and prayed to God to give me wisdom that night and everything changed when I got to SS1. I always emerged as one of the best in my class till I left the school in 2002,” she said.

Since then, this Ogun State-born lady has not looked back. She gained admission to BU in September 2002 and graduated in 2006 as the best graduating student in her class. Also at the University of Ibadan, while studying for her Master's degree, she emerged the second best graduating student with a score of 69 in 2010. The best graduating student in her class then made 69.9.

Her proud parents - Mr. & Mrs. David and Deborah Sodipe - who accompanied her to the convocation, said that God’s grace, discipline and sacrifice on their part were responsible for their daughter’s feat.

128  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Most romantic love messages and sayings on: 4-06-2012 04:13 PM
When the right words don’t come to you, having a sneaky peak at someone else’s can be extremely helpful. So whether you need some romantic words to impress on a date, on a birthday, at a wedding, or you just fancy reading something starry-eyed and dreamy, these top 10 most romantic quotes will make you swoon:

Romantic quote 1:

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you’ve been in love you know that at times it can feel like nothing else in the world matters other than what happens to the two of you. This is a great line to use in a card to a loved one when the words just won’t come.

Romantic quote 2:

Journeys end in lovers meeting” – William Shakespeare, Twelfth Night (II, iii, 44)

This simple line is a great example of Shakespeare’s skill; he is able to sum up the sheer satisfaction and completeness we feel once we have found that special someone. Three cheers for Shakespeare!

Romantic quote 3:

When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake, and then it subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots are become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.” – Louis de Bernières, in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

Hands up if you’ve felt slightly insane when you’ve fallen in love? We think pretty much everyone’s hand will be firmly in the air right now. This quote captures the essence of that madness and reminds us that once those initial feelings lessen, other feelings and challenges lay ahead.

Romantic quote 4:

A kiss makes the heart young again and wipes out the years.” – Rupert Brooke

We all know love’s a powerful beast, but Rupert’s clever words remind us how important a quick kiss is and shows us that love is not dependent on age. Rupert Brooke was clearly a very wise man and a great poet.

Romantic quote 5:

If you press me to say why I loved him, I can say no more than because he was he, and I was I.” – Michael D. Montaigne

That is the tricky thing about love; at times we don’t know why we fall for one person more than another. Next time you’re stuck for an answer to that all important question (‘why do you love me?’), borrow Michael D. Montaigne’s words.

Romantic quote 6:

Ever thine ever mine ever ours” – Ludwig van Beethoven, The Third Letter

This sign off for one of Beethoven’s esteemed love letters would work perfectly in a wedding speech or an anniversary card. The simplest words seem to pack the most punch when it comes to romance.

Romantic quote 7:

Love like you've never been hurt” – Unknown

Although you may not like to whip this quote out whilst trying to impress your guy or girl on a date, in that post-fight moment this line can really help ease the situation. It implies we should always give our all to those we love, and forget our past – wise words to say the least.

Romantic quote 8:

Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of the day. It is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every part of your body… For that is just being in love; which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away.” – Louis de Bernières, in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

We know it’s snuck onto our list twice, but Mr Bernières seems to understand love so well. This is a perfect quote for those couples who have been together for a little while, but understand that love is not just about those heady few months or year at the beginning of the relationship. Love is about that long-lasting commitment.

Romantic quote 9:

I may not be your first, but to be your last would be perfect.” – Anonymous

It may be cheesy, but we love this romantic quote. Sometimes the fun one-liners are perfect for lightening the mood with your guy or girl. While it nods towards the physical aspects of love, its deeper meaning is sweet and heartfelt.

Romantic quote 10:

We’ll always have Paris.” – Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), Casablanca

Every couple has that one place that means a lot to them; whether it’s the park, the bar they met or that special holiday destination. Feel free to adapt this quote and make it your own, but we warn you, “we’ll always have Hooters restaurant” doesn’t have the same ring to it, so choose wisely.
129  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Study: Americans’ Heads Getting Bigger and Changing Shape on: 2-06-2012 01:29 AM
Forensic anthropologists at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville found that white Americans’ heads are starting to change shape in addition to getting bigger and bigger in size during the 20th century.  The researchers studied more than 1,500 skulls that were dated beginning in the 1800′s and going through the 1980′s. They noticed that the skulls became taller, larger and narrower which gave the impression that faces also got longer.

Dr. Richard Jantz told The Huffington Post, “The surprising thing is the skull size increase has not been documented in modern Americans. We might have suspected that that was happening but this documents it. The shape of the skull has also changed rather dramatically. In fact, shape change has been more dramatic than size change.”

Specifically, the study showed that men’s skulls increased by about 200 cubic centimeters, which is about the volume of a tennis ball. Skull height increased by 8 millimeters. Among white women, skull size has grown by 180 cubic centimeters and height has increased by 7 millimeters.

Now that the research team has identified the growth they are now trying to figure out why it happened.

Dr. Lee Meadows-Jantz of the University of Tennessee’s Forensic Anthropology Center issued a statement which said, “The varieties of changes that have swept American life make determining an exact cause an endlessly complicated proposition. It likely results from modified growth patterns because of better nutrition, lower infant and maternal mortality, less physical work, and a breakdown of former ethnic barriers to marriage. Which of these is paramount we do not know.”

The researchers also said obesity could be playing a role in the skull size increase. Dr. Richard Jantz told The Huffington Post, “Increased calories, nutritional adequacy and decreased activity have probably been important factors. We know that changes how the body works.”

132  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Son Drags 96yrs Old Father To Court Over Plans To Re-Marry on: 31-05-2012 02:03 PM
A United States-based Nigerian, Emeka Mazie, has dragged his 96-year-old father to court for insisting to re-marry after the demise of his wife eight years ago. The suit with number HU/54/2012 filed before the Umuahia High Court 4, is presided over by Justice Agwu Kalu.

Counsel to the defendant, Miss Ebere Orji, told the court that her client, Chief Israel Mazie, and father of Emeka, had contracted a marriage with Ebere Ndubuka under the Marriage Act.

She noted that his children from the late wife (Emeka’s mother) had continued to obstruct the marriage, pointing out that his client was hale and hearty and entered the marriage with his whole mind.

She maintained that the plaintiff and only son of Israel with his sisters was duly informed before the marriage was contracted but regretted that they made a u-turn to stop the union.

Counsel to the Plaintiff, Mrs Ann Uchendu, told the court that Israel and Ndubuka had yet to consummate their marriage traditionally.

She pointed out that the defendants secretly obtained a marriage certificate from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

She also told the court that Ndubuka, 40, had been boosting that she “must marry Israel under any condition”.
Kalu after listening to both counsel asked Israel why he wanted another wife.

He told the parties to explore alternative means of resolving the matter peacefully in the interest of the family.
“I have examined this man (Israel), even though he is old, the papers before me do not show he is either mental nor senile.

“The L.C.M. of this matter is for the parties to return home and find a more peaceful way of sorting out this matter,” Kalu said.

He urged the parties to respect the views of each other, noting that at the plaintiff’s age he would never wish away his first son or the son abandon the father.

Kalu added that resorting to alternative dispute resolution became imperative as there was no serious dispute to judge on the case. He adjourned the matter to October 24 for report on settlement.

Israel told the court that his decision to re-marry was to get somebody to cook and assist him in keeping the compound clean.

Since my wife died eight years ago, nobody cooks or assists in cleaning the compound for me. All my children live in America,” he claimed.

The plaintiff told the court that he received with shock the plans of his father to re-marry at his age. He said: “if my father must get another wife, he ought to discuss it with me.”

Arusha – About 3 000 people suspected of witchcraft, mainly old women, were lynched in Tanzania from 2005 to 2011, a leading local rights group said on Tuesday.”Between 2005 and 2011 around 3 000 people were lynched by frightened neighbours who thought they were witches,” the Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) said in a report.

On average 500 people… particularly old women with red eyes, are killed every year in Tanzania because they are suspected of being witches,” the report said.

The provinces hardest hit are Mwanza and Shinyanga in the north of the country, LHRC said.

“In Shinyanga province for example 242 people were killed because of local beliefs in witchcraft between January 2010 and January 2011 alone,” it said.

The rights group explained that red eyes are feared as a sign of witchcraft, even if they in fact often result from the use of cow dung as cooking fuel in impoverished communities. The centre said that many local people believe that witchcraft is behind every misfortune from infertility and poverty to failure in business, famine and earthquakes.

134  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Thai Police Arrested a Nigerian For Allegedly Duping Women In Need Of Husbands on: 31-05-2012 01:26 AM
Nakhon Ratchasima police have arrested a Nigerian man for allegedly duping a Thai woman into sending him tens of thousands of baht after leading her to believe he wanted to marry her.

The arrest of Nigerian Smith Nnamadi, 34, at a Bangkok department store, came after a woman, whose name was withheld, complained to police that he had allegedly lured her to send him money under false pretences. The woman claimed that she knew the suspect via Facebook under name of Joe Henry, a British. They became lovers and Nnamadi proposed marriage after chatting via the network for two months. The suspect claimed he wished to bring in a Bt3million dowry but could not afford the fee of Bt321,560, so he asked her to help. The victim wired him Bt74,560 but Henry said he needed more. That made her suspicious and she turned to the police.

A sting operation was set up at a local mall, where the Nigerian suspect came to pick up the money. The police investigation found that Nnamadi conspired with other foreigners to lure Thai women, wanting foreign husbands, via MSN, Facebook and online websites to dupe them into sending money. Police will hunt for his accomplices.

135  Forum / The Buzz Central / "I flushed my engagement ring inside the toilet and I am happy" - Benita Nzeribe on: 31-05-2012 12:53 AM
During the 90’s and the past decade, Benita Nzeribe called the shots and made her name in households of Nollywoood lovers, eliciting affection and an urge for other prospective artistes to emulate her success.

But for the last couple of years, her high pedestal rise has suddenly fizzled out and her face is a rarity in current movies. Along with other peddled allegations, Benita reveals what has been panning out in her life plus her plans for the future in the interview below:

How do you feel about incessant marriage crashes in the industry?

I don’t like it when people attribute marriage crashes to Nollywood, we are human beings and the fact that one’s marriage crashes is not because she is an actress. For crying out loud, we have doctors, lawyers, bankers, among others, that are facing similar thing and nobody is blowing them up. I try to make people believe that there are many stars that are still enjoying their marriages. Nobody is happy to have a break up because there was love before the marriage. Even the media is not helping matter; you are an actress and you lodge in a hotel with Mr. A or Mr. B, then someone will see you and go back and write what he feels about you, knowing well that nothing exist between you and the Mr. A. When you write all these things, even if the husband would understand, what about his family members? Would they also understand? And most times people take the movie roles one plays to be the person’s real self and the press still worsen it by writing something negative about you. It’s not fair. It hurts! We are decent human beings with consciences contrary to opinions about us, especially as prejudiced in the media.

Talking about love, do you believe in it?

Yes I do, I really do believe in love but I don’t like talking about love because it is a foul cry in this area. Love is something you can’t even control, it’s something beyond definition. It’s something that accepts you the way you are – both your good and bad aspects.

How does it feel to be heartbroken?

That is what I am saying, maybe what they call love is an extreme form of likeness. It really hurts to be heartbroken; at times it would look as if the entire world has forsaken you.

Share your heartbreak experience with us?

It has been overblown in the past and I have moved on with my life. It’s been over blown that I flushed my engagement ring inside the toilet. I am happy now. I made a mistake and that was in the past.

But did you actually flush your engagement ring inside the toilet?

Yes I did. I was in a relationship and it crumbled. So I did and I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I have since then moved on with my life.

What did you learn from that heartbreak experience?

I learnt to be careful and not to trust any man again. Most men are not what you may think they are; they may fail you but God will never fail you.

Do you think Lesbianism has really spread and affected Nollywood?

I don’t have the facts about the existence of such in the industry and nobody has approached me and nobody will think about that. You don’t just see any woman and you walk up to her for such act; I believe there are tendencies that ignites them, if you say there are lesbians in Nollywood tell me who are involved. Tell me!

When was your most depressed moment?

That was when my relationship crumbled and that was long time ago and when I lost money in business – big money and I learnt from it not to trust anybody in business. I don’t trust people when it comes to money. No matter who you are, when it comes to business, I will not trust you.

Share your most embarrassing moment as an actress with us?

That was in a supermarket where I went for shopping. Something fell from a woman’s shopping bag and I picked it for her but she turned against me and said: You! So you can be nice like this! I said “Ma, what do you mean?” She replied by asking me: “Do you know how much I hated you?” In the end, I told her to try and watch the movies where I played good roles after which I know she would stop hating me. The Second one was in an airplane. A woman just walked up to me and said: I hate you. I asked why and she said: it’s because my husband loves you. All those things you do…taking peoples husbands and wearing those useless things”. I protested, “Madam I was paid to do that. My director asked me to do it I didn’t just do it!” At the end, she became my friend.

What is your view about acting n*u*d*e?

I don’t judge people who do it but as for me I cannot because I am an African woman, I am an Igbo girl and I don’t have the guts to act n*u*d*e. I can show you all the cleavages by wearing skimpy wears but I can’t go n*u*d*e. Skimpy wears, fine. I have respect for myself as a woman.

Where are you seeing yourself in five years time?

I expect to be high up there.

And probably in a man’s house by then?

Definitely I will be in a man’s house.

When exactly?

I will marry very soon and I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t worry, when the time comes I will give you notice!

Talking about marriage who is your ideal man?

I want a man that is complete. A man that will understand, respect and love me. That is my idea of a real man.

You want a man that is complete, A man that will understand, respect and love me. Check This room!!!
136  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Brazilian "Incredible Hulk" Discovers His Green Paint Can Never Come Out Again on: 30-05-2012 03:10 PM
It's not easy being green - as one Brazilian man proved when he painted himself to look like the Incredible Hulk - and found the colour wouldn't wash off.

Pool attendant Paulo Henrique dos Santos, from Vila Cruzeiro, dressed up as the comic book hero for a running event, but got a nasty shock when the time came to remove the green paint.

After frantic scrubbing, the hapless chap realised he'd used a paint reserved for ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines.

According to Brazilian news site Paulo had hoped to buy a brand of paint he'd used on a previous outing as the Hulk, but the shop he went to didn't have it.

Desperate to undo his inking, the would-be superhero spent Sunday and Monday having 'about 20 baths,' and was forced to sleep in a room lined with plastic bags.

He feared the industrial paint could actually give him lead poisoning, though he appears to have had no symptoms.

The 35-year-old, who also works as a DJ in Rio de Janeiro and is known as MC Marronzinho, has achieved overnight celebrity in his local area.

As if being bright green wasn't embarrassing enough, the local press ran pictures of his mother trying to remove the paint - and referred to her as his girlfriend.

So was he left feeling blue? Amazingly, Paulo says he doesn't regret the incident.

The state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who performed the ceremony at the Lagos Television premises,  put the vehicular density of the state at 224 vehicles per kilometre, pointed out that traffic could be greatly eased, especially at rush hours if people who had no compelling reason to use their vehicles at such hours, keep away from the roads.

Time is money. Sometimes, you need not make that journey. By the use of your mobile phone, you can transact that business or contact that friend instead of putting your vehicle on the road. Time is money. If you are caught in traffic, you lose time, you lose money and you suffer stress”, the governor said

Describing Lagos as the power house of the Nigerian economy, the governor said  the Lagos Traffic Radio was another of his administration’s innovations to manage the traffic in the mega-city, and that it would enable residents plan their day and reduce travel time to and from work or business.

According to him, “the Lagos Traffic Radio will help you make informed choice as to the route to follow when you set out to work or business in the morning. The radio  will give you first hand information on the traffic situation so that you can manage your time well and save cost”.

The governor, stated that the project about of three years to accomplish and he thanked the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele who, according to him, was the initiator of the project and who worked assiduously to see it through.

Governor Fashola also paid tribute to his predecessors, the first Military Governor of the State, Brigadier General Mobolaji Johnson who, he noted, put Lagos on the path of progress and the first Civilian Governor of the State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who, according to him, established the first radio station in Lagos, the Radio Lagos.

The Governor, accompanied by his two predecessors, Brig.-General Johnson and Alhaji Jakande as well as their wives, later cut the tape to declare the station open and also made the first broadcast on the station.

According to the Commissioner, in order to make every investor get his money’s worth in the State, “the traffic situation must be well managed in a more scientific manner, hence the need for a traffic radio station”

The station”, the Commissioner said, “is prepared for the challenges of meeting the expectations of the 21st Century listening audience in terms of content and facilities”, adding that the feedback since it commenced test transmission on 96.1 MHZ since the last three weeks was very satisfactory.

Noting that the station would form an invaluable avenue for the education of Lagosians on best traffic and road use practices, Ibirogba said the expectation of Government was that “as the station commences full operation, there will be drastic reduction in traffic gridlocks on our roads as motorists would be well informed on traffic situations and thus plan their journeys more scientifically.”

This new station is adding to a myriad of radio ststions that are broadcasting from the state.

A celebration of democracy or a deprecable apotheosis of an haemorrhaging plutocracy, cascading into a mobocracy with all the ossifying proclivities of a kakistocracy? With our "democracy" enveloped in a paraplegic crinkum-crankum, we must all rise up to bring to focal hiceps and biceps, Nigeria's "Pluto-mobo-kakistocracy".... Certainly not democracy!

Can Someone help depict what he was trying to say! Because I can't understand all these Mumbo-Jumbo

A United Kingdom-based Nigerian and a Chief Superintendent with the London Metropolitan Police, Mr. Victor Olisa, has been appointed as the first black commander for Bexley local council in London.
