A woman who has been living in Germany for more than a decade has begun searching for the good stranger who made it possible for her to relocate overseas. In 2006, Leah Mugure Mburu was on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya hawking socks when she bumped into a client who changed her life forever. The young man, who she could only identify as Brian held a conversation with her and she opened up about her struggles.
Although they were complete strangers, Brian informed the Leah that he knew of an exchange program that would help her move to Germany. According to the woman, her helper had returned back to Kenya from India where he studied Law and was working on paperwork to set up his law practice.
She told Tuko’s Hillary Lisimba: “He was bald and dark, a Luo, and must have been in his early thirties,” journalist Rono Chonginio, whom Leah contacted with the story.” True to his word, Brian helped Leah start German classes, which he paid for, then helped her with the immigration process. And that was how she moved from a hawker in Kenya to a German resident.
The problem, however, was that at the time social media was nonexistent and mobile phones were hard to come by, which saw the two lose contact soon as she relocated. It has been fifteen years now and Leah is married with children, but memories of that kind stranger she met on Tom Mboya Street still linger over her life. Leah, who runs a successful catering company, is looking for Brian so that she can invite him to Germany to show him the extent to which his deeds changed her life.
“I want Brian and the world to witness the marvellous work God has done in my life,” she said. She was also quick to add that the one interesting thing about her would-be destiny connector is that he never showed interest in pursuing her past the assistance he was offering, contrary to what many would have expected.
Veteran Nollywood actress, Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has stated that she begged Princess to drop Baba Ijesha's defilement case for four days but she refused. Speaking in a recent chat with BBC Yoruba, Iya Rainbow said she did everything humanly possible to get Princess not to escalate the case but she did not succumb. According to her, she said now that Baba Ijesha has been released, things have to be resolved amicably among the theatre practitioners.
“Before the matter was settled, I asked the princess for four days not to take the matter to court. I urge her not to let this matter get louder, but she refused. Now, see how the whole thing played out,” she said.
She also stated that either Baba Ijesha is guilty or not, their group must rise up and settle things amicably. She, however, prayed for peace to reign among each of the party involved so that the case will be resolved.
Toyota, a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, has snubbed Nigeria, as it opened an assembly plant in Ghana. The plant, which was established to assembly Toyota Hilux pick-up and other sedans by the Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing Company Limited, is located in the Freezones Enclave in Tema.
President Akufo-Addo of Ghana commissioned the plant yesterday (Tuesday, June 29, 2021), saying the development will help make the acquisition of new vehicles by Ghanaians more affordable as well as enable public sector workers to be able to afford and purchase locally assembled vehicles.
“Government will continue to create the enabling environment to boost the profitability of the emerging automobile sector in Ghana,” he was quoted as saying.

Following a demeaning comment on the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nigerians on social media have lashed out at Bashir El-Rufai. Bashir is the son of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
He had made some tweets mocking Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra following his rearrest by the FG. Bashir had in a tweet on Tuesday suggested that Kanu be locked up in a cell with a cow after news of the IPOB leader's arrest broke. The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday officially granted China a malaria-free certification as a token of celebration of the country’s successful elimination of the disease after 70 years of its struggles against malaria. From 30 million malaria cases in the 1940s, China brought down that number over the last decades, to have finally achieved no cases in the last four years, the WHO said.
“Today we congratulate the people of China on ridding the country of malaria,’’ said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “Their successes weres hard-earned and came only after decades of targeted and sustained action,’’ he added. China’s efforts against malaria started in the 1950s, as the disease was rampant in the southern part of the country, close to other hotspots in mainland Southeast Asia.
The “523 Project’’ a research programme launched in 1967, allowed Chinese Nobel Prize winner Tu Youyou to discover artemisinin, one of the most effective antimalarial drugs nowadays, according to WHO.
Over the last two decades, China ramped up its efforts and reduced the number of cases in the 1990s from 117,000 to 5,000 annually by providing staff training, laboratory equipment, antimalarial medicines and new methods to control mosquito propagation.

According to a reports, the lead pastor and founder of Gracehill Christian Ministries, Warri, Delta State, Prophet Evidence Chikason has reportedly divorced his first wife, who is a mother of three children, Praise Chikason. A young man who allegedly stopped praying after his hair was shaved by operatives of the Islamic police has been arrested by officials of the Kano State Hisbah Board. It was gathered that the young man had in a trending video claimed he stopped praying and going to the mosque after Hisbah operatives shaved off his long hair for being ‘unIslamic'.
His arrest is coming days after the Hisbah Commander-in-Chief, Ustaz Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina, vowed to arrest him. Ibn Sina had in an audio message said the commission was looking for the Kano resident for violating Islamic law.
On Monday, June 28, the Commander shared photos of the young man he identified as Muhammad Ikbal. Ibn-Sina warned the Muhammad to desist from further immoral act. He further instructed him to go and do a Nafl prayer and ask God for forgiveness.

The family of Darren James had a taste of being dollar billionaires, albeit for a short period, when his wife’s bank erroneously credited her account with $50 billion (N20,525,000,000,000). According to 47-year-old James, his wife called to inform him that he needed to sit down before she gave him the unexpected news.
When he did, she informed him that the billions had been deposited on her account, after which she showed him the bank balance on phone upon getting home. He is, however, quick to admit that before making the call, he considered the possibility of a rich relative leaving them the money in inheritance.

Nollywood actor Funsho Adeolu has blasts veteran actor Jide Kosoko alongside other stakeholders of the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria over threat to frustrate Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing in the Nollywood industry. It was earlier reported that the decision follows the condemnation of their colleague, Baba Ijesha, alleged of defiling the foster daughter of Nigerian comedienne, Princess.
Nkechi Blessing and Iyabo Ojo also clashed with some TAMPAN members, such as Yomi Fabiyi, Lege Maimi, who kicked against them for openly condemning Baba Ijesha. However, veteran actor Jide Kosoko during a press briefing over the weekend, said the association frowned at the derogatory statements made by Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing against the Association and the industry as a whole. It also barred directors in the association from working with the two Nollywood stars.
Reacting, Funsho Adeolu in a post shared on Instagram said he’s ashamed of the leadership of the association adding the do not have the interest of their members at heart.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was lured to a location in an African country with a promise of cash donation in millions of dollars. The IPOB leader, who was facing charges bordering on treasonable felony following his campaign for the secession of Republic of Biafra, had jumped bail in 2017 after a military action, code-named “Operation Python Dance”, targeted his family house in Abia state. Security sources informed TheCable that the operation to re-arrest and put him back on trial had been “ongoing for a while” until success was recorded on Sunday, June 27.
“He was not arrested in the UK or Brazil or Czech Republic. He was not crated either, contrary to speculations,” the source said. The Nigerian government has not named the country where Kanu was arrested, with Abubakar Malami, the attorney-general of the federation, just saying he was “intercepted” and extradited to Nigeria.
However, an online newspaper, reported that the “interception” took place in Ethiopia, where it said Kanu had been living for a while. Another specifically named Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, as the location.
We also learnt that Kanu was tracked through some members of IPOB who were recently arrested following a massive military operation in the southeast. The security agencies worked through the links to give the IPOB leader the impression that he was going to be given some “millions of dollars” in cash donations to the organization.
He was said to have decided to collect the money himself “because of the huge amount involved”. Kanu even kept his associates in the dark about his mission, according to the security sources who said the top hierarchy did not know his whereabouts on the day he was arrested.
He had been having a crisis of confidence with some of his lieutenants over financial matters. On arriving at the location where he was to collect the ‘donation’, he was arrested by that country’s security agencies and Interpol, and deported to Nigeria, the source said. This has brought an end to the long-running episode since he left Nigeria while on bail. His trial is expected to resume on July 26.

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Some Members of Parliament were spotted at a conference fervently praying to drive out the obscene spirit of LGBTQI+ in Ghana. The conference was organized ahead of the introduction of a Private Member’s Bill to criminalize homosegxwality and its related activities in the country but it turned out to be a prayer conference.
This prayer session was led by the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship before the bill was signed for onward introduction to parliament. The honorable members of parliament were heard seriously blowing in tongues to cast and bind every evil spirit that will cause the floor to kick against the criminalization of LGBTQI+ activities in Ghana.
Hon. Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, and five other MPs have pushed for a bi-partisan Private Members Bill to proscribe and criminalize the advocacy and practice of homosegxwality in Ghana. On the floor of Parliament earlier on, Sam George said; “It is our belief that all members of this House would support this Bill when it comes before the House.”
Sam George also said the Bill would seek to further strengthen Ghana’s legal jurisprudence and existing legislation on unnatural carnal knowledge to reflect the current state of affairs. Speaker of Parliament, on. Alban Bagbin has assured the house that he is considering a legislation that will criminalize the activities of the Lesbian, gay, bisegxwal, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) persons in Ghana.
His stand, according to some critics, will end the debate that government of Ghana supports the group and has some of its members secretly funding its activities.
The Federal Government has arrested the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami(SAN), who made the disclosure to journalists on Tuesday, revealed that Kanu was arrested and brought back to Nigeria on Sunday.
He said the arrest followed a collaborative effort between security agencies in Nigeria and Interpol. Malami further disclosed that Kanu would be taken before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial on charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society.
