36-year-old man identified as Stephen Ndukwe has allegedly stabbed his friend to death with a broken bottle in a hotel at Egbeda area of Lagos,
The incident, which happened at the weekend, almost degenerated into blood bath as those who witnessed the killing almost lynched the suspect but for the intervention of the police.
The mob said the brief argument the deceased had with the suspect should not have degenerated into killing one another.
One of the witnesses, who identified himself as Tokunbo Shonaike, said he and other people around tried to prevent the suspect from using the bottle but that all their efforts went in vein. The source said the deceased was confirmed dead after he was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
The Lagos State Police Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the case is being investigated at the homicide section of SCID.
He said the suspect has confessed to the crime and would soon charge to court for murder
