@Poster. Na JazzMan Olofin you d compare with these artists? O-Boy you dey mad? I know say dem say Nigerians are aggressive. However this na naija music we d talk about and my guy I must yarn you my mind. How u d think sef? Putting Jazzmans name in your shit artist list? You sabi music so? Ehn? Answer me? Make God punish you. Oloshi like you. Ha ha haah ahah.
I feel much better. Ha ah aha ha hah. Am just a Nigerian on a Nigerian site.
@Poster, have never bought or downloaded any Jazzman's song. I have much respect for him though. See reasons below.
1. He Sings like he is rapping. May be that is cause he can not really sing. And that is cool in my book. It shows he is intelligent. No need carrying notes that you cant carry.
2. His voice is not vocoded like that of many other Nigerian artists out there. Ask your nearest Producer what it means to vocode a voice. Like Kanye Wests album that he sang all through, his voice was vocoded. A vocoder is a device - software or hardware - that makes you voice sound like you talking into a fan. Snoop dog used it on his voice in his "segxwal seduction".
3. Jazzman's beats are not bad. His "Shake Something" beat is not bad. It is cool. Very cool. And that song was a hit.
4. He has cool videos. His videos are fair. There is this song of his about Lagos. Channel-O and Mtv-Base kept showing it on and on. I loved the video. The video captured the town of Lagos. Plus, it had this grimy feel. I guess maybe the camera used for the shooting was poor so the graphics people had to like reset the RGB or something therabouts. That video was cool. The song was cool.
5. He tries to Hybrid the old generation Yoruba music with hip-hop, disco and rap. What I mean by the 'old generation Yoruba music' is fuji, juju, afrobeat etcetra. He tries to do that. Do you know how much confidence it takes for an artist to try the unusual? It takes deep self confidence. Two face did something like that in his "integration" song. Though I doubt the likes of you will be able to comprehend what he did in that song. That song was a blend of the Traditional Idoma Style of Singing, Traditional Tiv Style of Singing and Hip-hop. Most people can not know what happened in that song. Most will never know.
6. He has a cool name. Jazzman has a cool name for a Nigerian Artist.
All the above said, I am not Yoruba, I do not understand what he says in his songs most of the time. I just know that he is not a failure. Jazzman is not the kind of artist you should describe as whack. Have never bought his album. I however know sound when I hear it. I also have dabbled into music. So, I can recognize the internals.
@Poster, please, be careful when you talk about artists. Be careful, cause there may be things other people see that you cant see.
As for most of the artists in your list, I have never heard em songs. Ha ah aha hah. Genie is whack though. Ha aha hahah. She dared to try. And that is the problem with being a star; when you fail in something public, you will find it difficult to try again.
The girl in that video should go to school.
