I guess it's easier as Humblej said,when the both of them are already committed ,and if they are mature enough

It will not, but it make him realizes that u are not for such and thus it should ring bells on his ears that u'r friendship with him is nothing but mutual and not and ordinary relationship that could metamorphose to another stage
