Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) who is also National Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Alhaji Balarabe Musa, says the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the northern consensus candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made it easier for the opposition to defeat the PDP in 2011.

Musa who reacted yesterday to Atiku’s selection by the Malam Adamu Ciroma_led committee of the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), said, “the task has been made easier for us the opposition to produce the next president for the country in 2011, with the emergence of Atiku as the flag bearer for the north who will face President Goodluck Jonathan during the PDP presidential primaries.

“We are happy over this development of the committee’s making Atiku the consensus candidate.

“It will have been more difficult for the opposition if Gen. Ibrahim Babangida had emerged as their candidate.

Also the Ribadu Campaign Organisation yesterday reacted to the emergence of a consensus northern candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, wishing them luck in their primaries.

In a telephone conversation with a top member of the Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation, Mr Dapo Olorunyomi said” our campaign organisation receives the news with interest and we understand the fact that the matter is purely a PDP affair.”

“We wish them luck in the coming primaries hoping that in the process that the PDP will ultimately give consideration to a national imperative to as a guide to their party processes.”
