i will say that you guy are fools, all of you saying that it is good to jail the guy, do you think that US is looking for him to jail him?
they know that for someone to do such thing, that he must be unique and very intelligent.
Bet me, if they take the boy to US, believe me, that guy will not spend more than two weeks in prison.they only want to make use of what he has.
you guys talk as if you don,t know USA, and their ways.
last year there was this Chinese boy who pasted on U tube how he  break APPLE security,US went to china to take him, and Chinese government noticed on time and refused, they gave the guy a lot of offer, the guy was only 14yrs.
forget US we know them very well. no bi today.
do you think nigerian do scam, what nija boyz does is small scam, all this site you see on net, like workathome, payperclikc , online job, so many, you can Google it.
those guys make milllions yearly, but US is not after them,
the most stupid thing Nigeria will do is to leave that guy for them without them dropping something reasonable.

This is the exact scenario playing out here. He stole about $800,000 using a computer? This is nothing compared to what hackers in that country make every week via credit card hacking,ATM POS terminal sabotage and hacking bank account databases! How about white collar fraud perpetrated mostly by WHITE PEOPLE? People lose anything from tens of thousands to several millions of dollars EVERY DAY to car loan and mortgage scams. Who talks about that? This might seem like an attempt to make use of the guy's skills but in reality, it's a ploy to paint our already dented image with more black paint.

I am not condoning what he did and i am strongly against any sort of dishonest means of making money but are Nigerians the worst culprits? We are labelled this way because our idiotic Nuhu Ribadu had the guts to go on BBC and CNN to label his own country as a breeding ground for fraudsters. How many so called internet fraudsters in Nigeria can write a simple program in C++,Perl,VB,J++,Oracle or SQL? These are things a 12 year old in the US can dumbfound our so called computer engineers with. Look up statistics of internet fraud and you'll see that Nigeria doesn't even rank among the top 10 but yet, if you go to Google and type "internet fraud", our name comes up first. Romania,Ukraine,Russia,Bulgaria,China,Vietnam,US,UK,Canada and Turkey are the top 10 but you won't hear anyone shouting their names. It's easy to label Nigerians as scammers because of their email letters but i don't hear anyone calling Americans credit card thieves (which they are number one for in the world).

When will we start respecting ourselves in this country? Even our people condemn themselves abroad just to make themselves look "better than others".

Mr. Rational, I worked as a Bank Manager for a long time and I will
 tell you that people who steal from the bank cause more damage that you can easily comprehend.
Customers get worried and it is not good for business. It hurts everyone
from customers to businesses and the community. This guy is a thief and need to be punished severely.
The greed that made him do that will not save him from prison.....He will not be driving that
"hummer Jeep to grove and jolly with girls" as you put it. He will be in a small cell smelling
his own urine and waste.
