Piqued by the continued recurrence of hostility in Plateau State, especially in Jos and surrounding local government areas, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has condemned resurgence of crisis, saying that it has lost over N10 billion to the impasse in the past few weeks.

Members of the association in Plateau, Gombe, Nasarawa, Bauchi and Benue states, stated this at a press conference in Jos, Plateau State entitled” Debilitating experiences of the business community arising from the incessant Jos crisis”.

The chairman of the association, Mr. Jonathan Onigbinde, who addressed the conference said apart from huge financial and production losses, member organisations staff and associates were murdered in cold blood.

He said the association viewed the current state of affairs as totally inimical and antithetically to the hitherto beautiful pedigree of Jos, Plateau State within the context of the Nigerian federation.

“Our members are nervous and heavily discouraged about the apparent failure of government to proactively intervene to stem the tide of violence in a systematic and holistic fashion that will restore public confidence in lawful authority” he said.

The chairman said the security challenges posed by the often quick resort to violence and lawless, mostly by the youth in the neighborhoods would be significantly curtailed if Governor Jonah Jang personally took bold initiative to directly engage the village, ward and community heads and leadership in those areas.

He lamented that Grand Cereal Oil and Mineral Limited which used to load over 200 trucks of animal feed daily, hardly loads 20 trucks now as a result of the incessant crises being witness in the state and its environs.
