Until I entered into the medical school I never knew that breaking the news of death by a doctor to the dead person's relative was part of medical ethics being taught in medical schools. Back in my secondary school days, we were told about this man who was a psychologist and counselor in a particular school who was very rude in breaking this kind of news to students who lost their relatives. He would often say for example: Chinedu, you have to go home very early tomorrow because you just lost your father in a car accident. One day, all the staffs and students decided to call him to other and asked him to look for a better way to reveal such shocking news. After a while the senior prefect lost his dad and the man summoned all the students and said: "There is an important announcement and I want anyone here whose father is still alive to come up to the stage" This was done within seconds and the senior prefect also moved to the stage. Then the man said, " Hey Mr Senior prefect can you please leave the stage and join the other group?"
