In a dramatic turn of events, a shooting occurred near former President Donald Trump as he departed Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday afternoon, September 15.
According to a statement from Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”
The incident involved a shootout between two individuals outside the golf club. Police confirmed that the gunfire was directed at each other and not at Trump. The shooting took place in a high-crime area away from the golf club's immediate vicinity.
The New York Post reports that law enforcement sources assured that Trump was never in direct danger. This incident comes nearly two months after a separate attack on Trump, when Thomas Matthew Crooks shot him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, causing a minor ear injury.
