In a move to alleviate the public's hardship and fulfill previous promises, President Bola Tinubu’s administration handed over 64 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to labor and student leaders on Sunday at the State House in Abuja.
This gesture comes as part of the government’s efforts to address concerns raised during negotiations on the new minimum wage and improve living conditions. Notably, in July, President Tinubu had pledged to provide 36 CNG-powered buses to labor unions across the country during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The buses, each with a 100-seat capacity, aim to reduce transportation costs for workers and students amid the rising cost of living. President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the initiative is designed to ease the burden of high living costs faced by Nigerian workers.
The handover ceremony was conducted by Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, fulfilling the administration’s promise made earlier this year.
