Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) has addressed the recent reports surrounding his interaction with the Nigerian Police, clarifying that he was not arrested but invited to assist in an investigation involving a church member.

In a video shared with his congregation on the morning of Sunday, December 8, 2024, Pastor Idowu expressed his gratitude for the support from his followers and emphasized that he was helping the authorities with their inquiries, rather than facing any charges.

“I was invited, not arrested. The Police reached out to me to assist in an investigation related to a church member who had encountered some legal troubles,” Pastor Idowu explained. “I want to make it clear that I am innocent in this matter. I cannot share too much due to the ongoing investigation and respect for the privacy of those involved."

The pastor also urged caution in the way the media had reported the situation, criticizing the sensationalism surrounding the matter. He added that while the media had misrepresented aspects of the case, he would not indulge in naming individuals or making inflammatory statements.

“There are families involved in this, and by speaking names, you would only be causing more harm to people who have loved ones. I trust the Police to handle the investigation,” he said.

Pastor Idowu also addressed circulating rumors about his personal finances, including a prophecy that alleged he had N1.5 billion in his account, dismissing the claim while thanking his congregation for their unwavering support despite the uncertainty.

“The media has made claims about my financial standing, but I will only focus on the good that is said. Thank you to everyone who stood by me. Even without knowing all the facts, you stood firm and said, ‘that’s not our pastor,’” he concluded.
