God help dem They were not forced to travel Italy but some of them were deceived with promised of good jobs. They fell for the lies because they were very uneducated and also desire to go overseas. It is a terrible life. These women can be killed at anytime. It is moderm day slavery. A few movies were made about the horrific sex trade but the mothers of these girls still beg the traffickers to take their daughters to Italy for prostitutin. Quote from: treasure1112 on 12-08-2011 12:46 PM bad government. Our government knows about this trafficking of underage girls into prostituton all over Europe but chose not to do anything about it. Two reasons why Nigerian government will not do anything about it. First, thgere is money involved. The trafickers (Nigerian Mafia), the madames, and some prostitutes send money regularly to their families in Nigeria. This remittamce is source of money for those families back home. It helps them to survive in the poor economy with high unemployment back in Edo state where majority of these girls came from. Second, our leaders do not care about confronting the Nigeriam Mafia that control this trafficking and sex trade. In some case, our government officials authority get paid off to look the other way. The traffickers are rich. Rich people in Nigeria contols the justice system.....from the police to the judges. We all know that if the Nigerian government wants to put an end to this shameful sex trade they can work with te Italian authority to end it. dan fulani

In the interest of being fair, I hasten to add that a few years ago, the Edo state government tried to discourge Benin women from sending their young daughters into sex slavery in Europe. The governor's wife took the lead. They formed a commission/task force. But they gave up too soon. Their efforts were met with great resistance by these uneducated women. The women actually believed that the government was trying to prevent them from getting their shares of the riches they think is in Italy. You would hear statement like.." Why would you try to prevent me from sending my daughter to Italy when other people that sent their daughters are now rich" Some of them actually believed that their daughters will one day come back and build a big home for them in Benin City. Those dreams never become real. Reality was that these girls were totally destroyed mentally and physically. Some were killed. Those that survived are alcoholics and drug addicts. Lives totally ruined. dan fulani

Some Nigerians just have a phobia for their country. ReplyBut not for basic amenities, Nigeria would have been even better than some of this European countries. Europe is in broke ass now, so things are difficult even for their own. Nigerians should check well before travelling. Rgds,

Most of these women knew what they were going to do in Italy. However some claimed they did not know, that they were promised good jobs. They were only interested in the money. they will be making. The madams made it look so easy, purposely forgetting to mention the harrassments from the police, the hassle from the Nigerian and Italian mafias........and the most risky aspect.. the men who buy them for sex. It was a risk they were willing to take. dan fulani

Quote from: adel4b on 12-08-2011 03:08 AM I have read so many comments made by some of you by blaming and insulting the girls. In my opinion most of these girls were not to be blamed. If the country called Nigeria care for its citizen by providing just basic things for them, they would not have allowed themselves to be lured into another country under disguise of employment. I hope some of the bastard politicians take their time to watch this film and see the side effects of their actions. When they steal the money that government is suppose to use to create employment or program to better the life of the youth, most of these girls will be in Nigeria by now making something good out of their life. I hope God will let all these corrupts politicians including their relatives who benefit from all the stolen money suffer the same agony and pain these young girls and men suffer in Italy. AMEN You are the only person with a reasonable comment here unlike some people that are comparing US with Italy,Japan with US as if they are from these countries.I don't have anything else to say cos you've hit the nail right on the head.
