Nigeria is a word derived from "Niger River Area" by British colonial mistress "Floral Lugard"- wife to the most popular 'Lord Lugard' of Britain. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, the seventh most populous country in the world, and the most populous country in the world in which the majority of the population are Blacks. It is listed among the "Next Eleven" economies, and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
On October 1, 1960, Nigeria gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Newly independent, Nigeria's government was a coalition of conservative parties: the Nigerian People's Congress (NPC), a party dominated by Northerners and those of the Islamic faith, and the Igbo and Christian dominated National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) led by Nnamdi Azikiwe, who became Nigeria's maiden Governor-General in 1960. Forming the opposition was the comparatively liberal Action Group (AG), which was largely dominated by the Yoruba and led by Obafemi Awolowo. The cultural and political differences between Nigeria's dominant ethnicities, the Hausa ('Northerners'), Igbo ('Easterners') and Yoruba ('Westerners'), were fascinated.
NIGERIA TODAY
The former "Giant of Africa"-Nigeria, has become a toy country in which the neighboring countries like Ghana, Togo, Benin etc don't really show or should I say don't pay respect to anylonger. Nigeria has also been describe as the Iraq and Afghanistan of Africa, when it comes to daily bomb explosion all over the country's corner.
Let's not forget that the black young African captured for bomb attempt on a United States airplane in 2009/2010 was also a Nigeria citizen, who goes by name "Mutallab". These act as placed Nigeria as a terrifying country amidst the western powerful countries.
However, the country negative image as a fraudulent nation as decline due to the establishment of EFFC by the former administration. Perhaps, the former administration led by Ret. Gen Olusegun Obasanjo, was accused of corruption and falsifying election which put Mr Jonathan into power as head of states.
NIGERIA FUTURE
A brighter future for Nigeria has not yet been forecasted by a psychic. Average youths in the country propose to leave the country due to lack of improvement in Academics, Economy, Infastructures etc.
Corruptions by the leaders is said to be escalating on a daily basis. Most Nigerian young men and ladys now reside withing the neighboring countries for a brighter future of themselves.
Leadership of the country is also said to be a family/caucus thing. It is an inheritance and not a thing an average family should hope for.
