Quote from: kingIyke on 14-11-2011 09:26 PM Mr. President kudos for hitting back at chinue Achebe. He is becoming arrogant and insensible. If he feel dat Nigeria is too corupt and spoilt why did stay back in Nigeria to help rebuild dis country. People dat are suffering day n night to see dat dis country is still intact called u to honour wit award, d best he could do is to collect d award so these people could be encourage to do more, but rather he is speaking Grammar. Let him (Achebe) go to hell. Witout hin nigeria will forge ahead. Dear Albino alias King Iyke, "when men were men" is my lamentation of sober reflection, as I recollect with some relics nostalgia.Great Professor Achebe at your age, already had achieved glorious hights with out blemishes, while you're still rubbing pancake and bleaching cream like a sycophant to please your selfish ideologies. Squirrels and gibons belongs to the trees, while lions match the grass. Dont you ever use harsh words on the man again. Note: Characters are formed not bought! Read his biography and be wise.

Quote from: sx_knx on 14-11-2011 07:38 AM These people have no shame? The man rejected the stupid award and with good reasons. What part of that don't you understand? And by the way do you know how stupid you look? Achebe has to come to Nigeria first before he can see what is happening. Your stupidity beats imagination. He sees and knows what is happening even from the United States. You correct, ![]()

An Oscar means a lot of things because it's like the ultimate award for a filmmaker so it feels great. But I think you have to consider awards with some distance and not get obsessed with it.GEJ do the most important things that you are assigned to, while taking oat of office. Reply

He whose house is on fire does not chase rat, it is only in Nigeria such things exists.....On what ground would Chinua Achebe receive such award? Look at Nigeria we can't boast of simple "STEADY POWER SUPPLY" which other African countries is enjoying yet we are the GIANT of AFRICA. Government comes and go but none of you leaders will think of solving the pressing NEED of your citizens. When Goodluck Jonathan was appointed the vice president we thought things will be better until he assumes power as the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria until date, nothing has happened instead there are lots of bloodshed in the country. Please you guys should leave Achebe alone if he is not accepting your so called award and do what is expected of you as the President, award contracts to foreign companies that will give us STEADY POWER SUPPLY, Nigeria has the money and can afford it comfortably. Hello all ! Well, am a nigerian studying and living in Gloucestershire, UK. I am appalled by Jonathan Godluck's lack of understanding of national development and improvement. It is a shame that a nation, Nigeria which is by far richer than the UK and most EU countries still have leadership problems. ReplyThis president may be learned in the palance of the Nigerian University system, but clearly lacks understand and assimilation of what national values and development entails. Where are the good roads ? where is the electric power ? where is the plan for technology enhancement and knowledge transfer and implementation for national gain ? where is the plan and implementation of anti-corruption programme ? where is clean and portable water ? what is Jonathan doing in Abuja ? How close is this man to the most dissadvantaged and poor people of Nigeria ? DOES JONATHAN HAVE A BLUE-PRINT OF WHAT TO DO ? where is the amnesty plan to bring boko haram insurgents to dialogue and curb their rampage and frustration once and for all ? How can he, dump a plan on basis of unnecessary SENTIMENTS, to resettle frustrated and unhelped youths involved in bombing and killing of innocent citizens of Nigeria, even if it means camouflaging under a religious ideaology, with global appeal. THIS MAN MUST AGREE AND APOLOGISE FOR HIS WEAKNESS AND CONFUSED STATE OF MIND. You cannot, as a technologically dissadvantaged and socio-politically corrupt entity engage in a cilvil war with the likes of so called 'Boko Haram'. You lack the Satelite technology to monitor them, U lack honest and highly skilled armed forces to combat them. They couldn't stop MEND, talk less of stopping a combination Al Qaida from Niger republic and jobless, frustrated youths of Bornu state who could be hijacked by failed corrupt 'politicians' for Anarchy. JONATHAN REALLY NEED TO COME OUT OF HIS SHELL AND TAKE A STAND more fearlessly now that the situation can still be resolved; else, more lives and property may be unnecessarily lost. Even the Boko haram guys knows that their demands are senseless and unachieveable, all these guys wants is recognition, settlement, dialogue, education, integration. They want to be carried along as citizens of Nigeria. They a product of the many years of corrupt leaderships by Shagari, Obasanjo, Babangida, Abacha and or recent Yaradua (sorry about any mis-spelling). Much regards.
