I have been asked the following ridiculous questions:

Do you have houses or cars in Nigeria?
Do you speak "Nigerian"? (What the heck is Nigerian?)
Do you know how to use a toilet? (This was when I first came here... the lady was actually going to offer to show me how to use one, how ridiculous is that?)

I once told a girl that we swing from trees and ride on pet elephants, and the fool believed it. So funny!

I drive cars for Avis and Budget, and when some other white male employees found out I would be visiting Nigeria, for the first time, they asked me if Nigerians lived in mud huts. And this was in 2007. Even though I showed my contempt for their stupid question, I tried to educate them a little bit.

Most Americans are incredibly ignorant about Africa and especially about Nigeria. In the U.S., where I live, I have never seen one positive article about Nigeria in the media. Not one. Everything is negative. As a result, most Americans have very negative ideas about Nigeria and its people. That is pretty disgusting and unbalanced reporting. All of the wonderful things about Nigeria and its people go unreported.

The whole world, including the United States, should begin with an attitude of respect for Africa because it is the Motherland, and we all came from Africa.

Someone here said Americans have no culture and are just copycats. lol Actually America, like every other country in the world, has a great culture. And there are a lot of people in the world, including people in Nigeria, who copy Western styles in fashion, music, etc.

We can all learn from each other.
