Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, a well-known cosmetic surgeon in Lagos, and her medical practice, MedContour Services Ltd, have been convicted in connection with the death of a client, Mrs. Nneka Miriam Barbra Onwuzuligbo.
The conviction follows a series of legal actions stemming from a botched cosmetic surgery that reportedly led to Onwuzuligbo's death in 2020.
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) brought charges against Dr. Anu for obstructing their investigation, refusing to comply with their summons, and failing to produce required documents .
The court case, which has seen multiple adjournments and legal maneuvers, culminated in Dr. Anu being found guilty of these charges.
Dr. Anu had pleaded not guilty, but evidence and testimonies, including from family members of the deceased, led to her conviction.
The case highlights significant concerns about safety and ethical standards in the cosmetic surgery industry in Nigeria
