The Gombe State Police Command has paraded a 13-year-old suspect and two others, Usman Husseini, 18, and Mohammed Yaya, 45, for allegedly molesting and defiling minors in separate incidents.According to ASP Buhari Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer, the 13-year-old suspect was arrested for molesting an 8-year-old girl in Akko local government area, while Husseini was accused of defiling a 4-year-old girl in Hammadu-kafi quarters, Gombe. Yaya allegedly defiled a 10-year-old girl in Tumu Akko Local Government Area, luring her with N100 and N50 on two occasions.
The police spokesman assured that the cases are under investigation and will be charged to court upon completion. He emphasized that the government is taking the issue of rape seriously, and the Department of Public Prosecutions is working to tackle rape and other forms of abuse under the Child Protection policy.
The police command urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such incidents. The suspects' arrest and prosecution serve as a warning to perpetrators of segxwal violence, and the police remain committed to ensuring justice for victims.
