Just my take on this...

The picture in the OP was just wrong, as it blatantly contradicted the article. "They noticed that the skulls became taller, larger and narrower which gave the impression that faces also got longer" - but the picture shows wider. It seems that Obehi Okoawo (http://obehiokoawo.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/study-americans-heads-getting-bigger.html) couldn't be bothered to get his facts straight.
