Top Nigerian singer, Bulola Elemide, 29, popularly known as Asa will today, June 28 appear in a Lagos High Court, Ikeja for a case she instituted against a Lagos soft sell, News of People.
In April 2012, Asa was in court over a story published by News of the People on December 14-22, 2009 edition of the magazine with the caption “Lesbianism trails Asa and Manager(Janet Nwose)” which alleged that the two ladies were involved in a lesbian relationship, an allegation the Jailer singer denies.
Asa is slamming a 700million naira lawsuit on News of the People.
The soul singer and her manager, in the suit, want the court to declare that the allegation of Lesbianism against them was false, illegal and a violation of their rights. They also want the defendant restrained from further publication of malicious statements against them.
In April 2012, her bodyguards were reported to have gone wild in court harassing journalists who wanted to take photos of Asa
