A Chief Magistrates’ court in Makurdi, on Friday remanded a 40-year-old man, Williams Adogo, at the Federal Prisons, Makurdi, for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Msuega Achi.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Gabriel Ebonyi, had told the court that one Tyohule Abakyo reported to ‘C’ Division Police Station that his cousin was murdered by the accused.
He said that Abakyo further told the police that the deceased left his house behind University of Agriculture, Makurdi, to North Bank, also in Makurdi, on July 29 but did not return.
Ebonyi said that when the complainant called her to know her whereabouts, the deceased asked him to come to where she was.
The prosecutor said the complainant went there immediately due to the urgency in her voice and the deceased explained to him that the accused conspired with one Dr Wombo and aborted her 5-month-old pregnancy.
“The complainant informed the police that the abortion caused serious damage to the deceased womb and that she bled to death immediately after telling her story,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the doctor who performed the abortion was still at large.
He said the offence contravened Sections 97, 232 and 222 of the Penal Code Laws as amended by the Benue State Government, 2004.
When the case came up for mention, plea was not taken for want of jurisdiction.
The prosecutor said investigation into the matter was still ongoing and asked for another date for mention.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dan Ogo, adjourned the matter to Sept. 9 for further mention. (NAN
