A Nigerian Point-of-Sale (POS) operator has exposed a colleague for allegedly stealing from her business after installing a hidden camera to investigate months of unexplained cash shortages.
The shocking discovery was made public through a viral video posted on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), where the unsuspecting thief was caught in the act.
According to the POS agent, she had been puzzled by consistent discrepancies in her cash balance over several months. Despite double-checking her records and daily transactions, the missing funds remained unaccounted for—until she decided to take matters into her own hands.
"I placed my phone camera discreetly on the counter to monitor the drawer where we keep the POS cash," she revealed in the post. "My colleague always goes to that drawer, so I decided to watch what happens when I'm not looking—and I got her."
The now-viral video clearly shows the accused colleague reaching into the drawer and pocketing cash. The agent captioned the footage: “She has been stealing for months now and we didn’t know.”
The incident has sparked outrage and conversation online, with hundreds of users expressing disbelief and condemning the betrayal. Some shared similar experiences, while others called for stricter employee vetting and surveillance in small businesses.
While it's unclear if law enforcement has been involved, the footage has prompted renewed calls for POS operators and small business owners to employ surveillance measures and maintain tighter financial controls.
