It is not right for a lady to retain her father's name (even as middle name) after getting married. She should take the new name from her man --- except theres a very logical reason for keeping the name
why are u talking Hollywood celebs on 9JAPALS

hey guys ! there's argument about that. the lady just has to take the man's name once they are married.

it dos'nt realy matter who's name a lady bears, the most important thing is tru love and marital harmony, afterall children these days sometimes choose to adopt their mother's maidian name as surname Roll Eyes :- :'(

ppl like chioma chukwuka akpatha, abike daberi, kate henshaw nuptal, iyabo obasanjo bello and many more what r they thinking huh

well i feel them Cheesy cuz to me.... my last name shows d pride my father has in me. It shows that who ever I become in life, is due to him and not my husband.....

If I am successful in life, why shouldn't my dad take glory for part of that success? Why is my husband taking credit for something he did not do?

A woman grows up all her life with her given name. She establishes a work history with her given name. She also has business acquaintances and friends that know who she is by her given name. why should she bury everything just bcuz she wanna marry d man she loves

Well, this is Nigeria where we have our own culture and belief and our tradition demands that a woman to drop her maiden name for his husband name. And even the bible confirm this when it stated that a man and woman will leave their parents and stick to each other. Also that a woman must obey, respect and ultimately summit to his husban while the husband must love his wife dearly in return. So its normal for a woman to bear his husband name. That is what God commands.

I don't agree with you dguy, it doesn't really make no difference at all, the most important thing is that they love each other. I have a friend who comes from where a married woman is not allow to call her husband's first name or surname, instead the guys parents has a special nick name for him, the one the wife can call him. So in doing that, the married women don't change their names after marriage. Even though they're leaving here in Sweden, the husband doesn't care, the lady calls his name but will not change her name. So is all about LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING.
well this part of d world we grew up to understand  dat u must bear ur husband name nd that is our way of life nd changin it wil b difficult.
